The question "when to marry?" has long become a scourge of social interaction, especially for urban people in Indonesia. Not only for young people who are still single, but also the parents who made the more anxious every time the question was thrown. Departure from the phenomenon, came the romantic comedy film When Kawin? Directed by Ody C. Harahap, by installing stars Reza Rahadian and Adinia Wirasti.
On her 33rd birthday, Dinda (Adinia Wirasti) receives the most dreaded phone call from her mother (Ivanka Soewandi). Because, not just congratulations that will be heard, but also a lecture on why Dinda has not yet married. The mother demanded Dinda return to Yogyakarta with a prospective husband, even wearing a moment of "age is not long" to melt the heart of Dinda.
Urged like that, Dinda eventually hired a theater actor to pretend to be his girlfriend. Outside the shadow of Dinda, the actor named Satrio (Reza Rahadian) is not an easy person to work with. His eccentric style and often against Dinda's will often threaten the failure of their plans. And, unnoticed by Dinda, Dinda's mother and father (Adi Kurdi) also have a covert program to ensure that Satrio is the right prospective son-in-law.
Movies When to Marry? is the inaugural production of the production house of Legacy Pictures, with Robert Ronny (Hattrick, Dilema) as the producer. With lightweight material, the team of filmmakers apparently did not want to present it with sober. With that in mind, a pair of highly reputable actors and actresses were chosen to play two main roles, namely Reza and Asti.
"This movie moves only in one family, with its core characters in Asti and Reza, our minds, who play must be good, because if not, this story will not work, because they are the ones who guide this story. heavy class ya ya play In idea is light, commercial, "said Ody.
Ody also revealed that during filming in the field, the presence of these players resulted in a good interaction. In fact, both Reza and Asti have made some improvisational dialogues that were not in the script, but eventually retained and enriched the movie.
Apart from the reality of this romantic comedy genre film, When to Marriage? also tried to lift some elements to add layers of the story. Asti himself argues that the film is not just a pair of men and women who meet and long in love, but also talk about the family.
" For example, when a parent feels something is not yet accomplished in their life when young, why is it that is required to his children, subconsciously they are so. But, the impression, because they are parents, they are always right, but not necessarily. So this is actually a reflection of parents who have children who are single, "said Asti.
The same thing was also conveyed by Ody. Despite targeting young adult audiences closer to the problems experienced by the characters in this film, Ody also stated that there is also value that can be taken by the audience outside the age group. "Because here we also talk honesty in the family because the impression that the child is more honest with friends than the parents, why it happens, whether there is interrupted communication and all sorts," said Ody again.
The film that the script is worked on by Ody C. Harahap, Robert Ronny, and Monty Tiwa also featured Febby Febiola, Erwin Sutodihardjo, and child player Firman Ferdiansyah.
