Ginger is a plant originating from Asia Pacific that spread from India to China.
Ginger plants are also utilized as beverage ingredients, cooking spices & traditional medicines.
Ginger plants require relatively high rainfall, which is between 2,500-4,000 mm / year.
At the age of 2.5 to 7 months or more ginger plants require sunlight. In other words, ginger planting is done in open place so it gets the sun all day.
Ginger plants are most suitable to be grown on fertile soil, loose and many contain humus.
Good soil texture is sandy clay, sandy clay & lateric soil.
Ginger plants can grow on soil acidity (pH) around 4.3-7.4. But the optimum soil acidity (pH) for elephant ginger is 6,8-7,0.
Elevation Place
Ginger grows well in tropical & subtropical areas with altitude 0-2.000 m above sea level.
In Indonesia is generally planted at an altitude of 200 - 600 m above sea level.
