RE: Music: Five from the Seventies Part One Challenge
Those are fantastic choices! I'd forgotten all about Roger Whittaker. He was a family favourite in our house, especially his single "Durham Town" (maybe because we used to holiday on Lindisfarne, near Durham, every year). Talking of which, I was going to include a song from the group Lindisfarne in my choices, but none of their songs have a Wikipedia entry!
I'd never heard "Don't Pull Your Love" before. I do remember "Young Girl" - I just loved that record. They used to play it over and over again at our local swimming pool. Now in light of what you say, that seems a bit weird... but surely it's about a man rejecting the advances of an underage girl.
I love all of your other choices too. That Andy Kim record is a classic! He must have been the original Medallion Man! It's funny that you say "cut a rug" because he had a rug on his chest! They don't make em like that any more haha.
Awesome info in your comment! I love it. I was hoping I would get some responses from some of the South African users on here about Roger Whitaker. I am not sure if they have a fondness for him or if they are just sick of him 😁
