Be good to your eyes and sleep patterns with eSteem night mode plus Samsung Galaxy S8+ blue light filter

in #esteem7 years ago

I've had the Samsung Galaxy S8+ a week now and when it comes to the capabilities of this device I've barely scratched the surface. I'm not as interested in gimmicks as much as I am with ways to make the smartphone experience just a little healthier. I'm no health expert but there are some examples of "low hanging fruit"; simple things that can make a positive difference.

Blue light filter

A student of mine has been inverting the screen colors on his computer and phone, claiming that it improves his sleep patterns and reduces eye strain. On the Galaxy, they have a blue light filter option that still gives you the experience you're used to, just mellower. I've got mine auto-scheduled to enable the blue light filter from sunset to sunrise, and it is quite pleasant.

eSteem night mode

We've seen "night mode" on some sites and services like Poloniex, and I was happy to see it available on the eSteem app. This gives the screen a "smart" color inversion, replacing the white backgrounds with a dark one, while preserving images and videos. I combine this with the blue light filter for some smooth, non-fatiguing late night Steemin'.

of course I'm going to squeeze in my first entry to hit the trending page! Nice and sleek in night mode

Be good to your eyes and happy eSteeming!

There's also a free app called Twilight that you can use both as a blue light filter and as a screen dimmer, which can be really useful even during the day.
