This #friendsday post is for @watersnake101 because I promised food pictures so here are a few photos.
My daughter made this delightful Lingonberry Carmel pie from a recipe that had been shared with her by @swedishdragon. Not only was it beautiful, it was delicious!
And everyone contributed a few cookies to the cookie platter. They were a hit with the kids!
Our Christmas meal was served as a buffet. I forget how much food teenage boys can eat! We had ham and baked beans and my daughter-in-law made my favorite Russian salad called 'Herring Under Fur Coat' which is diced Pickled Herring that is covered with layers of grated vegetables (potatoes, carrots, beetroots), onions, eggs and mayonnaise. It is a favorite of most of the adults... not so much with the kids, although the boys are usually polite enough to eat a few bites.
Herring Under Fur Coat is a tradition in Russia.
One of the funny parts of Christmas was that both grandsons showed up wearing the same shirt!
And then my oldest grandson opened this snuggly warm gift!
Everyone has gone home, they all helped to put away the Christmas decorations before they left, and I am settling back into my eSteem routine!

I am happy to hear that you were able to spend some family time together during the holidays. I am sure you are also glad that it is over and now things can go back to normal. You can now settle back into your routine and enjoy the peace. :-)
Ha! You are quite right! When they left they said they would see me again in February, and I think that is about the right time between visits! Did you have a good holiday season?
Hi Melinda. I don't celebrate much of anything. So it was more or less just another week, except I changed the calendar. I didn't even get out of the house. :-)
Is that by choice? My health doesn't allow me to do all the things that I wish I could do, but I am lucky that my kids and grandkids keep me engaged.
My siblings and I were not brought up to celebrate and have fun. My parents had enough trouble putting food on the table. They passed away when we were young, and we sort of grow up, the way we were brought up. "It's just another day!"
The Chinese New Year is the only time we 'celebrate'. We look forward to it with dread, and we were only too pleased when it was over. We love our routines.
So, I guess I am one of those who doesn't know how to have fun. Actually, my kind of fun is to sit down with friends for dinner and drinks, and chat about anything and everything under the sun. That don't happen too often, as it is quite difficult to get all the people together. But I am happy to be left alone, to do my own thing. I am never bored.

I have always been very active and loved to travel. I have three kids, who are all adults now with children of their own, and I raised them to know that there is a big wide wonderful world out there. We did a lot of traveling and had many adventures. 20 years ago I started having issues with my balance and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Because I knew there was a distinct possibility that I would reach a point where I would no longer be able to function the way I wanted to, I crammed in as much travel and adventures as I possibly could. And I am so glad that I did. I am no longer able to walk, or drive a car, and I can no longer leave my house unassisted, but I really have no regrets and am enjoying the life that I am living today. I have learned to appreciate different things than I did before and like you, I am never bored and am so grateful that I am still able live alone.

I admire your attitude and positivity, your courage and independence, and your living life to the fullest. You are my heroine, and a shining example of the human spirit. Cheers!
Awww, that's sweet of you to say! We all have to play with the cards we are dealt. And just about the time I get feeling sorry for myself all I have to do is look around and realize there are so many others who have so many more challenges to deal with than I do and it makes me count my blessings. Besides, I think I have more miles on my mobility scooter than many people have on their cars!, Before my husband died we traveled all over the United States and I have used that scooter to explore Cities and deserts and gardens and waterfalls and mountains! Most of the photos I post were taken from the seat of my scooter!

Looks tasty! Especially the cookie plate, but I have a bit of a sweet tooth.
This certainly is the time of year for sweets! It will feel good to get back into a healthier food routine.
