An alligator named Spots

in #esteem6 years ago

Seeing this alligator at the New Orleans Aquarium of the Americas had me questioning if it was real.....

Until it opened its eyes!

This photo was taken in March 2015, and the alligator, named Spots, who had a rare skin condition that made him very vulnerable to sunlight and predators, died in September at age 28.

These seahorses at the Aquarium were fascinating to watch

Seahorses use their tails to anchor themselves to vegetation.

These guys live along the eastern United States’ coast, the Gulf of Mexico, and down through the Caribbean toward Venezuela. Lined seahorses live in shallow water among seagrass beds and mangrove forests.

White crocodile looks very beautiful, I have never seen it in real time, it always looks like I want to see it.

I believe they are very rare. They do not survive long in the wild.

You have all kinds of nice banners for footers.
I love seahorses too.
That alligator was something else.

My favorite footer is the one @shasta made me for the shadow contest. New Orleans has a beautiful aquarium.

I like that one too...is it a crow or raven.. nevermore :)

We don't have ravens here, so crows are my favorites, but I love ravens too!
Surfer is up? Still waiting on eSteem App.....

That alligator is majestic because of its unusual color and the seahorse is so tender and cute.

Thanks! It was fun to see them.

for a moment I thought that alligator was not real. I do not go to an aquarium since I was a girl

I questioned whether it was real when I was standing in front of it! I've gone to several of the big aquariums in the past 10 years or so. They're rather fascinating.

He doesn't seems real, I'm sure it should be very nice to visit an aquarium

Unusual photos. White 🐊 alligator and sea horse. Great photos, thanks for sharing.

Too bad Spots has died. We visited the Aquarium often when we lived in New Orleans.

One of the days of our visit was cold and rainy and the aquarium was the perfect place to spend the day. How long did you live in New Orleans? That must have been interesting for a boy from the North country!

5 years. It was fun. Living in a tourist town is fun. Lots to do.

I'd be happy to live there simply for the food!

WOW, it is just amazing. Unique animal :) Greetings my friend

I had never imagined such a creature. I guess they are very rare because they do not survive long in the wild

howdy this fine Sunday night melinda010100! hey ya know what I don't think I've ever seen sea horses up close like that before and didn't know that they hold on to the plants like that. Wonderfully colorful photos and I like spot, too bad he's not around any more, he looked like a nice alligator! lol.

Oh yeah Janton I'm sure he was a very nice alligator! You could have probably went up and patted him on the head, right? Haha! I did not remember ever seeing seahorses before either and I've been into several large aquariums. I thought they were fascinating. The glass in their tanks was not very clean so it was hard to get photos.
