ITALIAN LEAGUE THE WINNER
Juventus win the Italian League for the seventh straight time after a goalless draw against AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday (13/5) evening local time.
An additional one point is enough for Juventus to ensure the Scudetto title this season despite Napoli's 2-0 victory over Sampdoria in the other game. Juventus are now collecting 92 points and four points ahead of Napoli with one game left.
Juventus secured the 34th Italian league title [36 if without two titles removed over Calciopoli] and were ahead of AC Milan in second place with 18 Scudetto titles.
Juventus also won the second title in five days. Previously, I Bianconeri successfully won the Coppa Italia 2018 trophy by beating AC Milan 4-0 also at the Stadio Olimpico.
Appearing without a number of leading players like Gianluigi Buffon, Medhi Benatia, Sami Khedira and Douglas Costa, Juventus were under pressure from AS Roma early in the first half.
Action entered the eighth minute, Roma threatened Juventus goal when Edin Dzeko kick after receiving feedback Lorenzo Pellegrini still soar. Two minutes later it was Radja Nainggolan's kick that still bounced over Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
AS Roma continued to press Juventus defense in the first half. One minute before half-time break, Aleksandar Kolarov's free kick was still thin on Juventus' left-hand post.
Juventus never really threatened AS Roma's goal. However, Juventus' efforts to ensure the Italian League title this season became lighter after Radja Nainggolan got a second yellow card in the 68th minute for bundling Paulo Dybala.
Superior number of players makes Juventus increasingly confident to reach at least one point to become the Italian League champions. Score goalless draw to survive until the end of the game at the Stadio Olimpico.
