Beautiful Sunday: tea time by the swimming pool, เวลานํ้าชาริมสระน้ำ

This is my entry for #beautifulsunday hosted by @ace108. This Sunday my friend invited me to have tea at her house and she also gave me twenty three small trees for my garden. That means hard work in my garden next weekend. Any volunteers with planting these trees!?

Luckily, it has been raining in the north-east of Thailand this week. The rain has saved so many farmers from financial troubles as the rice crops were on the verge of being perished by drought. I did ask my friend to get some small tree saplings for me on her trip by the road where there were rows of tree sapling nurseries just out side Bangkok. So, I had to collect all these twenty-three saplings from her house.

The weather was rather grey and overcast. We had some Japanese green tea then followed by another pot of English Breakfast Tea. We also had some steamed Chinese dumplings and some preserved Thai fruits. The atmosphere around her house is very quiet and the energy around the downstairs shrine-table is fantastic.

We didn’t have deep and serious discussion for several months. So, we made up for lost time by non-stop discussion for three hours. The subject was meditation and the current fashion of going on meditation courses. There seems to be trend of people enrolling in meditation courses and these people tend to promote the competition among meditators and non-meditators.

We also discussed the popular method of meditation which seemed to stress on power of concentration and inner life force for accomplishing daily tasks more efficiently. We agreed that this method actually increase a person’s aggression and self-obsession. It did not involve self-knowledge and the goal of enlightenment. These practitioners tend to become very judgemental and suffer from superiority complex.

This is quite alarming for me as one of my cousin has become very disagreeable after doing many courses of this method of meditation. My neighbour also likes to boast about all the accomplished meditation courses. Most people seem to neglect the Vipassana meditation altogether as concentration meditation (Samatha methods) could be easily achieved in such a short time. However, people will have to learn from their experiences in different methods of meditation.

วันอาทิตย์นี้เราได้รับเชิญ ไปทานน้ำชาที่บ้านเพื่อน และไปรับต้นไม้ที่เราได้ขอให้เพื่อนช่วยซื้อให้ตอนขับรถผ่านไปแถวคลองรังสิต เราได้ต้นไม้ใหม่อีก23ต้นในคราวนี้ อากาศวันนี้ค่อนข้างครึ้มฟ้าครึ้มฝน เราดีใจมากที่ฝนตกทางอีสานแล้ว ต้นข้าวที่ยืนเหี่ยวแห้งกำลังตายก็เหมือนได้รับการชุบชีวิตใหม่ ชาวนาเริ่มยิ้มออกเราก็ค่อยเบาใจหน่อย หลายคนก็บ่นให้เราฟังเมื่อสัปดาห์ก่อน เรากับเพื่อนไม่ได้คุยกันหลายเดือนแล้ว คราวนี้ก็คุยกันแบบไม่หยุดสามชั่วโมง

เราคุยกันเรื่องแฟชั่นที่คนชอบไปเข้าคอร์สนั่งสมาธิกัน แต่เป็นการทำสมาธิเพื่อให้จิตนิ่งและมีกำลังแก่กล้า จะได้เอาพลังนี้ไปใช้ในชีวิตการทำงาน โดยไม่มีการสอนเรื่องหลักธรรมคำสอนของพระพุทธเจ้า ผลก็คือคนที่ไปทำสมาธิแบบสมถะนี้ กลายเป็นคนก้าวร้าว และชอบตัดสินคนอื่นที่ไม่ไปทำสมาธิว่าใช้ไม่ได้ เขากลายเป็นคนที่คิดว่าตนเองดีและสูงส่งกว่าคนอื่นๆ สร้างความร้อนใจให้คนรอบข้าง ด้วยการเที่ยวไปสั่งสอนคนอื่น
เราก็คุยกันถึงวิธีการนั่งสมาธิที่กำลังเป็นที่นิยมในปัจจุบัน ทำให้อดเป็นห่วงไม่ได้ว่า พวกนี้จะทำให้คนเดือดร้อนกันไปทั่ว เพราะพวกเขาไม่ได้มุ่งการหลุดพ้นจากกิเลส แต่กลับทำให้อัตตาและกิเลส ความยึดมั่นถือมั่นรุนแรงขึ้น แต่นั่นแหละ การได้เรียนรู้การนั่งสมาธิอย่างถูกต้องตามหลักของพระพุทธศาสนาก็คง แล้วแต่จริต และบุญวาสนาของคนนั้นด้วย ทุกอย่างเป็นไปตามกฎแห่งกรรม
