My Garmin Cycling Config v1

in #esteem6 years ago

I’ve been doing some thinking on how I want the Garmin to act while on the bike. I’ve come up with the settings that I will try for a while to see how I like. I mounted the Garmin where the first computer I had been, right behind the Aero Water Bottle., and I’ve titled this version 1 that way I can adjust the settings as time goes on.

This location works really well for me, It’s the natural place I look for my information so I figured I should keep it the same. The stock configuration had Time, Avg speed, and Distance on the 1st page, with Elevation, Heart rate and Sport on the 2nd page. Those were the only two pages that I changed, the 3rd and 4th page has the current lap information and last lap information (time, speed, and distance). This information is all good and is everything I needed last week, however the adjustments I made I think will suite me better. I took out the elevation display and sport display on page 2, because I don’t need to see what my elevation is until after everything is done, and the sport display because I don’t need to be told that I am cycling while I sit on the bicycle. I thought about leaving it on there that way if I’m doing a multi-sport event, I’ll be able to cross check which sport the watch is on to make sure it’s collecting right, but then I thought that if I set up each sport how I like it, and they are different then I still wouldn’t need the sport display. Hopefully that logic doesn’t come back to bite me in the end.

Page 3: Current Lap Time, Speed, Distance.

Page 4: Last Lap Time, Speed, Distance.

I know what you’re saying, “why do you have the time information on pages one and two?” My thought process was that if I turned on the Auto Scroll feature so that the Garmin flips automatically through all 4 pages, at least this way I have a 50% chance to always knowing the current time on the clock. I was going to have the time on top of all 4 pages, and other information I wanted to see in the bottom two squares. I figured Garmin probably know’s what people like to see so I figured that I would at least see if I use those last two pages at all since I put it on auto scroll.

I look forward to trying this set up out, and will let you know how it turns out.

Until next time, have a safe week!
