Fruit fly

Flies ... who doesn't know it, everyone in this world really understands it, because it's everywhere, sometimes its presence makes someone annoyed because of it. On this occasion I will try to share a little knowledge about fruit flies. Here's the explanation,

A. Definition of Flies

In the book (Soeroto, et al 1995) it is stated that flies are, fruit flies, including orders belonging to the Tephritidae family consisting of around 4000 sp, divided into 500 genera (genus). This family is the largest family in the order and is one of the families that is very important because it is very detrimental to farmers who cultivate with plants in the garden.

B. Fruit fly morphology

In this case it can be explained that, the morphology of fruit flies is no different from common flies. However, fruit flies also have characteristics that are not found in other types of flies. Characteristics of fruit flies as mentioned below,

1. Head

The head of the fruit fly at a glance is almost similar to other ordinary flies, but it has a difference, the head of the fruit fly is round oval, and the place attached to the antenna with three segments, then the color found in that place is characteristic of fruit flies, and other differences black on the face, or certain colors on his face, while ordinary flies are different from him.

2. Chest cavity

On the back (dorsal) the chest cavity of the fruit fly has certain characteristics. This can be a line in the middle, or a borderline (lateral) yellow on each lateral side of the skutum (the fruit is usually yellow, although in many species there are additional colors, such as black with certain patterns (In the book: Soeroto et al. 1995 ) From the results of several sources, it was added that the fruit fly wings usually have spots on the posterior edge.These patches cover the costal and subcostular veins and other surrounding veins.The legs of fruit flies also have a distinctive color that is characteristic of certain species. anal (one wing vein) in most fruit flies has posterior extension, From the body posture possessed by fruit flies to the difference with other ordinary flies.

C. Losses for humans

So its presence in our environment can endanger humans both in terms of health and in terms of economics (plant pests) because these fruits cluster together in groups, a small collection of flying insects may consist of several types of flies, as usual flies and fly wastes (known as fly disposal) . If you find fruit flies in the toilet sewer at home, that means they eat organic waste material found in the sewer. Then he will fly into the room where the food is and can spread viruses that can make the human body sick.
