October 19, 1987, Bintaro Tragedy, two local trains drawn by diesel locomotives, on the Jakarta-Serpong line collide with each other. Swallow ± 156 fatalities and hundreds injured. Iwan Fals perpetuates this tragedy in his song titled 1910 and Ebiet G.ade immortalize it in the song There's Still Time.
Bintaro Tragedy is a tragic accident involving two trains in Pondok Betung, Bintaro, South Jakarta, on October 19, 1987 which is the worst disaster in the history of railways in Indonesia.This event also attracted the public attention the world.
An economic train patas majors Tanah Abang - Merak departing from Kebayoran Station collided with a fast economic rail majors Rangkasbitung - Jakarta City departing from Sudimara Station.This incident was recorded as one of the worst accidents in transportation history in Indonesia.
Investigation after the incident indicated the omission of Sudimara Station officers who provided a safe signal for the train from the direction of Rangkasbitung, whereas there was no secure statement from Kebayoran Station.this is done because there is no empty line at Sudimara station.
Location The accident occurred between Pondok Ranji Station and Tanah Kusir Cemetery, North of Bintaro State Senior Secondary School.near the curve curve of the Bintaro Toll, precisely at the "S" arch, located approximately 200m after the Pondok Betung lintel and ± 8 km before Sudimara Station.
As a result of the tragedy, the corbar Killed 156, Injured ± 300. The train driver KA 225, Slamet Suradio, rewarded 5 years confinement.he also had to lose his job, so he chose to return to his hometown, became a farmer in Purworejo, now a cigarette seller in Kutoarjo. Previously, he has worked for 20 years in PJKA. A similar fate also happened to Adung Syafei, conductor of KA 225. He had to stay in jail for 2 years and 6 months.while Umrihadi (Leader of the Railway Trip, PPKA, Kebayoran Lama Station) was jailed for 10 months.
