Clothing is for covering

After sin came in, the first effect was the opening of Adam and
Eve’s eyes to their nakedness. Immediately they felt ashamed and
sewed fig leaves to make themselves aprons. So the basic meaning of
clothing is for covering. Clothes are used to cover nakedness. The
aprons made of fig leaves could not have lasted long, for the leaves
would soon dry and break into pieces.

God therefore clothed Adam
and Eve with the more enduring coats of skin. His purpose was to
cover the body.
We should tell new believers that the meaning of clothing is for
covering, not for exposure! Any dress which is not for covering is
questionable; any purpose other than to cover is also wrong
