Buah durian
Duria is the name of the durian clan; belongs to the Malvaceae tribe (formerly Bombacaceae), son of the tribe of Helicteroideae. Of the approximately 27-30 species of clan members, so far nine species are known to produce edible fruit. Nevertheless, there are still many species whose fruits have not been successfully collected or well-known; and is still very likely to acquire another species whose fruits may be edible. [1] Kostermans in 1958 reported the distribution of 27 Durio species: 18 in Borneo, 11 in the Malay Peninsula and 7 in Sumatra. [2] The study of herbarium collections at Bogor Botanical Garden shows that in Indonesia there are at least 20 species of Durio: 18 in Kalimantan, 7 in Sumatra, and one each in Java, Bali, Sulawesi and Maluku.
