The Monument of Cadet Fight, Plataran

Hellow Steemit Fellows😉

imagemy favourite object at the gate of the monument

Let's skip a night adventure in Jogjakarta😆 I'm waiting for the bus that will take us back to South Tangerang. I've made a visit to a monument where a little unbelievable things happened again 😨 I'll tell you later at the end of this post.

The Monument of Cadet Fight in Pelataran is not a popular tourism destination in Jogja, I asked some people I met in Jogja about Millitary Academy Of Jogjakarta and nobody knows about it. As I told you before that we're not on vacation in Jogjakarta but also to meet source person who has made indepth research about Indonesia First Millitary Academy a few months after its Independence day in 1945. My Husband is working on the making of a short documentary film for an organization.

imagethis is an information about this monument at the outside fence of the gates, it said "Plataran Monument, here is the place that witnessed the fight of people againts the Dutch collonialism in February 24th, 1949"

This place is about 5 kilometres eastern from the central of jogjakarta. We arrived at 11.45 am, right after the nearest small mosque at the town calling people to do the noon pray, dhuhur. After parking our rental car, first thing first for me is doing my obligation as a muslim in the small praying room in the monument's yard.

image that's it, the praying mat in the firm direction waiting for me, nobody around, no site manager but some villagers are gathering in the other side of the monument watching us but nobody came to talk to us😯

image information about this monument, it was built the Millitary Academy Alumnus with their own money and help from other millitary authority in 1977 as a memorial monument of the best cadets who died in the fight at this place

Plataran is a small village near Kalasan between Jogja and Solo. There's a base of guerillas called SWK 104 around that place. From a book that I read, the witnesses said it was a wrong strategy to choose that place because it was a small village with an open area.

image* this is from the east part of the monument where 3 platoons Dutch Army came from or awaited for the guerillas*

There's another encountered with the Dutch Army who entered Yogyakarta by embended to English Allies Army. It was in Sambiroto on February 22nd, 2018 where a cadet named Abdul Jalil killed by the Dutch Army. Some information said that His diary was taken by the Dutch and it has informatiom about the Guerillas base camps.

Why Plataran was choosen as a monumental memorial place for the cadets?

Millitaire Academy of Yogyakarta was established by Gen. Oerip Sumodharjo through a verbal command to his assistant Samidjo after receiving an appointment from the first cabinet meeting as the general staff of Indonesian Army Forces. So, in the end of October when Indonesia Capital moved to DJogjakarta, the announcement of The Millitaire Academie open requirement.

image this is one of the place where the cadets of MAJ spent their day in Academy, now it is a school, SMA BOPKRI

The cadets were receiving all the millitary knowledges at this place and they're practicing everything on the real war. So let's talk about the subtittle above. Why Plataran? It's a coincidental place or perhaps it was in the planning of the Dutch Army who was leading by Liutenant Colonel JF Scheer, the one who became a youngest person who reach that level in Indonesia.

The cadets and their embended group were on the way back from the previous fight at Bogem Bridge to their guerillas base camp in Ngrangsang. Tired, lack of sleep, limited amunition and not understand the situation around they're attacked by the Dutch with full and completed weapons. Panicked and powerless, the guerillas army was tottally messed out. The commisioned Officer who also a liason's officer, Utoyo actually escaped from that place, but he turned back to help the guerillas and taken over a Gun Machine which called as Bren from a cadet who had shot by The Opponent, and tried to maintain the situation but he failed, he wore a steel helmet that he borrowed from his friend, Soesilo Soedarman a night before, the enemy bullet was shoted through and hit his head. A heroic action that still lives in memories of his friends until now. That's why 28 years after the fight, his friends built this monument. 2 commisioned officer, 5 cadets who just joined the Academy for 9 days, 1 Student's fighter were died at the Fight of Plataran.

image I hate to say this, but when I took this picture, I heard people are singing a song from far away😢

I'm struggling to create this post with so many unknown distractions that I hate to think about it😨

I talked to my hubby about the sound of the singing and he said that he heard it too😐 but refused to tell me where is it came from but pointed his finger to the plat on the middle art of the back wall😯 it is The Cadet's Hymn, written and arranged by Vaandrig Cadet Moelyono. I heard the song once before when interviewing one of the cadet.

image I haven't finished counting on how many statues like this one there when my silliness of listening to the sound of my head to stop it, maybe 9 or less

I haven't completed my exploration around the place, yet. But my beloved one ordered me to leave the place immediately😯

image He was taking a rest and waiting for me

So off we go😬 our driver, Rudi is waiting outside the Monument.

image that's our white rented car in front of the fence of the monument

Well, forgive me for this stupid unbelievable accident, after taking the last picture (the first on this post) We're got into the car and Rudi couldn't move the car though the engine has had activated, He tried many times to place the right gears and press the kick starter😤 it won't move. I told my husband to do something with it, he remains silent for a minute but then Rudi started the engine and off we left.

Later on our way from Kaliurang where another stupid incident happened to me😁 Rudi told me that He didn't understand what's happened in Plataran before, it was so hard to place the persnelling and step on the kick starter, I can see how he drives the car so fast to get away from the monument like crazy😡 though I told him that we're not in such hurry to be able to reach Prambanan Temple before its closing time.

image proof that this is my story and pictures which I'd taken with stupid Samsung S3

So.. Before I'll face another trouble by this post😂 I'll end it here. Thank you for stopping by💖🌻

duluu banget, tahun 70-an. saya bahkan belum lahir. Bokap udah almarhum :)
