The first cell phone weighs almost 1 kg and costs 3,995 dollars

When it was launched in 1983, Motorola DynaTAC became the world's first mobile phone available to consumers.

The device's weight was just over 800 grams, and the battery allowed up to 35 minutes of talk time. The most impressive, however, was the price of $ 3995. Currently this amount is doubled. The unrealistically high amount remained, although the prototype was invented by American Martin Cooper almost ten years earlier.

The US company has invested more than $ 100 million in the Motorola DynaTAC development process, with much of the money going to build radio towers and the other necessary technology infrastructure that is practically lacking to date.

The Motorola device is also historic for another reason. Sixteen years earlier, Martin Cooper's engineer, through his predecessor, made the world's first cell phone call. "The father of the mobile phone" recruited the head of Bell Labs's design department, Joel Engle.

The first DynaTAC weighs 1.15kg and has a massive size of 22.5x12.5x3.75cm. It has 2,000 parts and the battery provided only 20 minutes of talk time. For the creation of this prototype, Motorola has invested 15 years of effort and about 90 million dollars. For mass use, the company has significantly reduced weight and increased battery power. This marks a new era in telecommunications.
