Huawei retains its leadership over Apple in the third quarter of 2018
After the second quarter of 2018, Huawei for the first time replaced Apple from the second-largest global smartphone manufacturer, the company again recorded better results than its US competitor in the third quarter of this year.
According to IDC, the global smartphone market marks a 6% drop for Q3 / 2018 compared to Q3 / 2017. All manufacturers in total delivered 355.2 million units in the last quarter compared to 377.8 million in the same period last year. Against this background, Huawei has grown enormously, delivering 52 million units in the third quarter of 2018, up 32.9 percent from the same period in 2017.
In terms of market share, Huawei holds 14.6% globally, which is 4.2 percentage points higher than the same period in 2017 (10.4%) and 1.4 percentage points higher than Apple's current market share .
According to IDC experts, if Huawei continues to grow at the same pace, the company will not only consolidate the second position with the manufacturers, but it will not be long before it reaches the top spot. The P20 and P20 Pro models continue to be among the most sought-after in the market and realize impressive sales volumes, while the new Mate 20 flagship series, which came out on the market less than a month ago, fully justifies the " expected smartphone for 2018, "and also has great market results that will still rise in the coming months. In Bulgaria for the first 10 days after its launch on the local market, Mate 20 Pro sales are impressive 2.36 times higher than the first 10 days of Mate 10 Pro.
"The race for the leadership position of the smartphone market continues to be very controversial once Huawei again outpaces Apple," said IDC statistics manager Anthony Scarsella.
Huawei is an amazing value. My only concern is the allegations of mysterious background processes that could be backdoors for the Chinese government ☹️
