Smartphones Cause To Go To Jail
A man named William Montanez was sentenced to 180 days in prison by a judge in Florida, USA. Initially, he refused to open his two cell phones when asked the police.
The case began on the street, when William Montanez steered his car off the main lane. The traffic police stopped him and said he would search his car.
William Montanez did not allow, then the police ran a sniffer dog to sniff the car. The result, found 4.5 grams of marijuana, cannabis oil, and a gun.
Police also found two units of mobile phones, when on one screen terpatri entry message reads "gee, did they find it?".
Soon after, the traffic law enforcer asked William Montanez to open his two phones. The man who was taken away refused, then the case was brought to court.
William Montanez actually admitted that the forbidden goods in his car were his. What makes it processed to court is the refusal to open his mobile phone, as compiled KompasTekno, Monday (16/7/2018), from Gizmodo.
William Montanez's lawyer, Patrick Leduc, filed an emergency petition to challenge the verdict. According to him, there is obstinacy from police checks on the street.
In 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that traffic police had no right to investigate possible violations suddenly.
The police must have a clear reason before conducting an investigation. The rejection of the car inspection by the public does not necessarily become the reason that he is legitimate to be suspected.
Until now the case of William Montanez is still proceeding. Does he end up having to stay behind bars for 180 days? No one can be sure.
