DAMPAK REHABILITASI AREAL BEKAS KEBAKARAN DENGAN AREAL BEKAS PENENBANGAN

Surely we know together that the rehabilitation process in the former area of ​​fire is more likely than the former logging area. This can be seen through the natural succession of vegetation in logged-over areas can be restored in climactic phase of tropical forest if fire threat is low. However, in some areas of logging the threat of fire increases as the temperature rises. Indeed, as long as logged-over areas are not in the phase of blocked development (human development), human intervention is not necessary for regeneration purposes. The blocked development phase, such as that occurring in Imperata grasslands, is a developmental phase that inhibits or at least slows the continuation process to the next phase of development. Under these conditions, human interventions are needed to prevent fires, both in fires and logged-over areas before and during rehabilitation efforts.

Tentunya kita tahu secara bersama bahwa proses rehabilitasi pada areal bekas kebakaran lebih cenderung baik ketimbang bekas areal penebangan. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat melalui suksesi alami vegetasi di areal bekas penebangan dapat dikembalikan pada fase klimaks hutan tropis jika ancaman kebakaran tergolong rendah. Namun, di beberapa areal bekas penebangan ancaman kebakaran meningkat pada saat suhu udara meningkat. Sesungguhnya, selama areal bekas penebangan tidak dalam fase blocked development (suatu fase perkembangan ekologis) maka intervensi manusia tidak diperlukan untuk tujuan regenerasi. Fase blocked development seperti yang terjadi pada padang alang-alang, merupakan fase perkembangan yang menghambat atau paling tidak memperlambat proses kelanjutan ke fase perkembangan berikutnya. Dengan kondisi seperti ini, maka intervensi manusia diperlukan untuk mencegah kebakaran, baik di areal bekas kebakaran maupun areal bekas penebangan sebelum dan selama upaya rehabilitasi dilaksanakan.
