Menteri Perindustrian Airlangga Hartarto mengungkapkan Indonesia saat ini mulai melakukan uji coba untuk menghasilkan bahan bakar minyak dari limbah kelapa sawit. Jika uji coba ini berhasil, ia menyebut, Indonesia berpotensi menghasilkan 3 juta kiloliter biofuel per tahun.
