First European Warcraft III World Champion in 10 Years!
Dmitriy ‚Happy‘ Kostin is the new Warcraft 3 World Champion!
While Warcraft III is still quite big in China and Korea, the scene in Europe (the European Wc3 Realm is including Russia) did shrink near to extinct in the year 2015. Only lately with the rise of big Streaming Platforms, former Pro Player like "Happy", "Grubby" and "Tod" came back to the game and started Streaming on Twitch. Viewer Numbers started growing fast and Blizzard did even start to create Patches for the Game again. I could write a whole novel only about the Rise - Fall and Rise Again of Warcraft III. It is to be noted, that Warcraft III is now 15 years old. "Happy" who was a Starcraft II Pro Player meanwhile, started to focus on Wc3 again and fast made himself a name in the small European Competitive scene.
In the Fanbase he is called "The Last Emperor" since a while and an Emperor he was today.
After already defeating two former World Champions in the Quater- and Semi-Finals, he had to face the Titel Defender and Korean Wc3 Legend "The 5th Race", "Moon" in the Grand Final this Afternoon. Both fought impressively in a thrilling Nightelf vs Undead bo5 and "Happy" won it. 3-1 in Maps, but maybe with the best Mirco Management Wc3 has ever seen.
With this Victory, he claimed 30.000 US-Dollar Pricemoney and becomes the first European Wc3 World Champion in 9 years.
Congratz!
it really was about time
