♃ OCCULTIST CORNER #7: The Science of Magic as the Art of a Seemingly Absurd Change - General Thoughts

in #esoteric7 years ago (edited)

According to  Aleister Crowley's context, Thelema; Magic is defined as the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in Conformity with Will.

Eliphas Levi or Alphonse Louis Constant was a French occultist who influenced A. Crowley as according to his own words - in free translation; if someone is determined to dominate to him/herself or to other people, they have to know the way to have a will because the greatest secret of initiation into making something happen is to know what you truly have as Will. And this Will must be as real (and powerful) as steam or electric power...

People often consider magic as a false, taboo art which is forbidden or even diabolical and those who are involved with it usually are not normal, they are heretic, cursed and so on...but it really depends on how you use something or on your intentions...

Anyway, most of the people don't believe that Magic does exists but there is a catch here.

A. Crowley, E. Livas and many other intellectuals who had been seriously involved with Magic, strongly support the idea that unless someone is really willing to change, they will never be able to practice Magic as the Art and Science which can be accomplished only by their unrestricted Power of Will.

The catch is that Power of Will is the secret source which undoubtedly could help us achieve anything almost inhumanly possible but our strongest desires are the ones that we experience in intense situations where our adrenaline level burst, like when we feel terrified or while we are overwhelmed by excitement...

Therefore, our daily life is not enriched by experiences of excitement and we usually behave in a very passive way when something happens, as if everything is predictable, and unfortunately; it is predictable. So, excitement is what misses from our lives and our perception of the world will change, if we start feeling excited again.

But what if we start practising Magic as a method of self-discovery or as a system of genuine, spiritual adventure? After all, what we need is a strong, Will to change and we all have this innate desire. The problem is that our everyday routine does not allow us to see deeper, to seek deeper and we prefer not to make room for "The Paradox" in our minds and in our hearts. And this "Paradox" is nothing more than the effect of our strong Will for something that we really wish to come true, isn't it?

"The joy of life consists in the exercise of one's energies, continual growth, constant change, the enjoyment of every new experience. To stop means simply to die.

The eternal mistake of mankind is to set up an attainable ideal."

- A. Crowley -

Something that looks seemingly absurd cannot be observed as something Magical but something that is observed as Magical, it can only be Real and it can be seen - not just be imagined, it can be touched, it can be moved, it can float in the air or it can even be transmitted.

- If only humans would think of Magic as part of their Reality, they would be able to alternate what's Real and take back the control. -
