EOS Argentina launches tool to recover unregistered tokens.
EOS Argentina is proud to announce the unregdupdate proposal, this update will allow anyone with unregistered tokens in the Ethereum network to claim them on the EOS Mainnet.
Despite Block One´s information campaign, not all of the Ethereum addresses that held ERC20 tokens were registered into the new EOS Blockchain. There is still over 20.000 accounts which hold 0.5% of the total EOS Stake that has not been allocated to their rightful owners. In order to fix this we have created an onchain solution that uses the Ethereum accounts used on the contribution period and generates a corresponding EOS account.
We believed that solving the unregistering tokens was a top priority for the EOS Community, anyone that participated on the EOS Contribution period has the right to receive EOS tokens on mainnet.
The Proposal
The proposed update by EOS Argentina adds three main functions to the eosio.unregd contract.
void regaccount(const bytes& signature, const string& account, const string& eos_pubkey);
void setmaxeos(const asset& maxeos);
void chngaddress(const ethereum_address& old_address, const ethereum_address& new_address);
regaccount
Allows a user who didn't register a public key during the contribution period and have no recourse to fallback process (unregistered user) to claim their EOS tokens. This is being done by providing a signature using the ETH private key of the account used to make the contribution.
setmaxeos
Determines the max amount of EOS that the contract will pay when creating a new account with 8k of RAM. This function gives control to the BPs on how much to spend for the account creation of unregistered users. Must be called periodically based on current RAM price.
chngaddress
This function allows to change the Ethereum address that owns an EOS balance in the eosio.unregd addresses table. This will be useful for ETH addresses that the owner doesn't have a private key for (contracts).
You can follow the formal proposal created by the EOS Argentina for Block Producers to sign in EOS Authority approvals website: https://eosauthority.com/approval/view.php?scope=argentinaeos&name=unregdupdate
How can you claim your tokens?
Once the proposal is approved the process will be simple. EOS Authority will publish a Graphic User Interface on their website for people to register their unclaimed tokens. The process will be really straight forward and they have done a great job in providing instructions along the way.
Technical Details
Technical details for BPs to validate the contract before signing can be found here:
https://github.com/EOSArgentina/proposals/blob/master/unregdupdate/README.md
EOS Argentina will keep working towards bringing community solutions to the EOS Blockchain and we believe it is of utmost importance to register all of the Ethereum Addresses that participated in the contribution period.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The contract does not need your private keys. It only needs your EOS Account name and EOS Public key. Please never give your private key to any website even if it does look like ours.
this is a useful too right here. i thought that unregistered tokens were lost forever, of course that would make it a problem for many token holders who hadnt registered in time
