Iteration in Governance Models

in #eos-gov7 years ago (edited)

I'm here because of looking towards blockchain projects that support flexible & well-structured models of governance to support my ideas and my philosophy.

My goal was to objectively look into various projects: EOS, Steemit, Cardano, Aeternity, Bitshares, Cosmos etc.

As I mentioned in the EOSIO Gov Telegram group I ended up digging deep into EOS and—as a result—am having a hard time being as objective as I would like... things here are just so interesting that I cannot help but get excited about this project.

But at a wider perspective, what I do appreciate about all of these projects (and the many more to come) is that we are getting a chance at doing something massively historical: iteration on wide-reaching governance models.

This is likely to be significant for the simple fact that this was too difficult & costly to do previously. We have never had the authentic opportunity to try & test novel models in governance (mixed with economics) before the blockchain made this a possibility.

It seems likely to me that various governance models are likely to be iterated upon, and if the vast majority of people don't like one system, they'll either change or move on, as quickly as they change their coin on an exchange. Ultimately, this could very well put our systems of governance to the forces of evolution, resulting in something that may (finally) work more optimally for us human beings. At the very least, reaching that potential seems closer, and more likely, than ever.

Glad to be here—at what I see as a Kairos/bardo moment in history— and look forward to the many conversations; some of which have already sparked!

Hi @jkelsey

I tried my best to understand what " iteration on wide-reaching governance models." could possibly means but I failed.

Could you please explain a little bit more?

It also seem that you're very exited about EOS? Is that platform really that exciting? I only realized that it's getting popularity like crazy lately.

Great post

ps.
I would recommend to check out Crowd Machine. It's a bit related to your post. You will love that project. I promise.
