Please Stop This Junk – A Must Read If You Love Environment or Money or Both (Hilarious Video Included)
People laughed at the beginning. They said it is impossible. After all, why would someone pay up to 10,000 times more, when it is available almost for free right in your home?
I am talking about “Bottled Water”.
Most parts of United States, Canada Greenland, Australia, Western Europe, and some parts of Asia have safe for drinking tap water. Check http://lifehacker.com/know-what-countries-guarantee-drinkable-tap-water-with-1635070463
Yet, according to the Beverage Marketing Corporation (BMC), in 2014 the total volume of bottled water consumed in the United States alone was 11 billion gallons. That’s about 150 million USD in sales. That translates into an average of 34 gallons per person.
Where does this water come from? Most of the quantity does not come from some mountain or secret spring. Most of it is just filtered tap water.
Is it better than tap water? Not according to this report http://www.ewg.org/research/bottled-water-quality-investigation.
Well it tastes good doesn’t it?
That’s where aggressive marketing has tricked everyone. Please watch this less than 5 minutes video. It is entertaining as well as eye opening.
Some marketing campaigns convinced people that tap water is dangerous. Some even claimed that bottled water is environment friendly. This picture tells us otherwise.
Actually it is a lot better if you choose tap water over bottled water. If you want a proof here is an article by National Geographic http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/03/100310/why-tap-water-is-better/
Marketing is the culprit of rising consumerism in the world. Sure it helps to spread the word about a great product. But most of it is just about convincing you to buy more, and more, and more.
More than you need. More than you want. More than you can use.
The world is not run by decentralized body like Steemit. The more we spend the richer handful of people get.
We do this without realizing what is the adverse effect of this phenomenon. There are many examples, how we pollute this beautiful earth. Just by being careless. If you have time please watch this great eight minute video.
It is time we take some responsibility. It is time we say enough is enough. Let’s care about all the land and not just our backyard. Let’s change and make this world a beautiful place.
