MCU films do not have more than 40 percent of the time on screen women

A compilation revealed that so far Marvel Studios movies have not devoted much time to female characters.

Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe began with Iron Man in 2008, several things have changed in society. And while the demands of some sectors are still far from being met, the issue of representation in pop culture has become increasingly relevant.

Marvel Studios took a successful step in that direction this year when Black Panther introduced the first blockbuster superhero with a mostly black cast. However, the study is still in debt in terms of gender equity.

No, we are not talking about the salaries of MCU stars, but the time that the female characters appear on the screen in the studio's productions, which according to an IMDB user revealed, is much lower than that of men.

According to the compilation collected by the Digital Spy site, in none of the 19 films that Marvel Studios has released so far, women with important roles have more than 40% of the time on screen. Which means that individually, at best, barely exceed half an hour on the screen.

The site points out that the movie that showed the least female characters was Captain America: The First Avenger, where women appear in 14% of the time of the film, in fact, that percentage is only thanks to Agent Peggy Carter, who she was the only woman with an important role in the Captain's first film. In contrast, the two most profitable MCU films: Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War have the most amount of time with women on the screen.

While the story of the king of Wakanda leads the count with about 40.29% of the films starring women, mainly Nakia and Shuri, who appear 16 and 14 minutes respectively. Surprisingly the third Avengers rises in second place with 34 percent of the time of the film with female characters on screen, which corresponds approximately 51 minutes of the time of a total of 149 minutes.

Regarding individual minutes, Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy stands as the woman with the most minutes on screen in an MCU movie, with 31 of the 120 minutes of the film with her as the protagonist.

While it is true, most of the Marvel Studios films so far have been starred by men, it seems that from the studio and took the matter into consideration and things will change in the face of upcoming releases.

In June of this year Ant-Man and the Wasp will put Hope Van Dyne as one of the protagonists of the film, which should report enough minutes on the screen to the heroine. And in March of 2019, we will see Captain Marvel in his solo movie, where he will obviously have the most time on screen.

In addition, everything suggests that the great role that has been anticipated for Carol Danvers in phase 4 of Marvel Studios will also bring you several minutes in Avengers 4.

And you do you think...???

That doesn’t seem fair however DC had the wonder woman movie and that was awesome :-)

I think sometimes we go over the line with the theme of feminism... jejeje
