Afghan Girls Can Finally Ski
These are the Hazara ethnic girls (previously written Pustun), Afghanistan incorporated in the Bamyan Ski Club. For the first time in history, Afghan women can enjoy skiing.
It is Henriette Bjorge (38), the Norwegian ski trainer behind the girls of the skiers of Afghanistan. Henriette patiently taught them from scratch.
When you first teach, the conditions in this ski club is very sad. These women do not have skis, let alone boots. Apparel training is sober.
Slowly, these Hazara girls began to train under Henriette's guidance. Quite a long time and frustrating, but ultimately they can be basic skiing techniques.
Their development turned out pretty good. Finally in 2013, one of Henriette's protégés, managed to become champion in the first Women's Ski Championships in Afghanistan. Tears of tears were spilled.
Henriette's hard work paid off. From falling up on a ski board, to being a champion for the first time.
But that's not finished yet, there are still many dreams that Henriette wants to pursue with his protege.
One of them is to join the Winter Olympics. Good luck Henriette and the other Afghan women!
