Just finished reading this and your previous articles. Then I went to Kiva and dove into the details. This is very discouraging. I have been lending thru Kiva for over 10 years. I had assumed we were helping the poorest of the poor. But when I look at the interest rates, I was shocked. OK, this is my fault for not reading all the fine print, but still... These borrowers must be good people because I've had only 1 loan defaulted in that whole time. But still, someone is making a profit off my money and these folks. I will follow you to get more info, especially the direct loans. Do you know if there is a shortcut on Kiva to find the best Field Partners?
You can filter loans by partner attributes by various criteria on the left hand side of the main lend page.

Ok thx. I did a quick search and most of the loans that come up have N/A for average cost to borrower. I guess I need to play with it a little longer to figure it out.
