It's Time to "Protocol" new ICO Protocols

in #enigma7 years ago (edited)

How many must be scammed before we establish a protocol for the sale of new ICO's?

Sadly, we are seeing some big projects and Steemers being seriously affected, and at this moment Steemers are sending their ETH to God knows where never to be seen again. The scammers currently attempting to steal away the Enigma Catalyst pre-sale ICO are demonstrating quite a trade craft. Everything from a believable forged site, to believable forged emails, to a hacked Slack channel and a ddos attack all perfectly coordinated to insight FOMO so folks drop their guard and send off their ETH. Anyone see a pattern here? The poachers are leaving fresh meat in the jungle just waiting for the kill.

It's only a matter of time before the SEC makes  a more grand entrance, and maybe its appropriate that they should. I dare not be tempted to think that those that are scammed should know better; I'm a 25 year software developer veteran and I almost bit into one of the many hooks. Simply put, a protocol for this can be quickly established to prevent further disasters. While the site attacks will happen, preparing would-be supporters with a simple protocol can mitigate the process to be far less treacherous.

To the next ICO: Help us, help you.
