Scientists: Complaints and depression make a person more successful

in #english6 years ago

Scientists from the University of Sheffield found that eternally unhappy and severely depressed people are much more successful than optimistic peers.

At the same time, the so-called defensive pessimism allows to protect the psyche from external stimuli and helps to concentrate on work

Pessimists, according to scientists, tend to more pragmatic solutions based on an assessment of the current opportunities and the state of the world, while optimists pass the wishful thinking. Low expectations for any task these people significantly less likely to be disappointed and to experience emotional turmoil.

However, each failure for a pessimist remains within the ordinary life experience, which can be corrected or re-lived, using a different plan of action. Negative, which pessimists "give" not only to themselves but also to others, allows them to be more productive and perform more mental work.

Low levels of stress in pessimists can also affect health — less number of experienced frustrations can reduce the overall level of inflammation of the body, as well as "weed out" some serious diseases, including lesions of the cardiovascular system and the brain.

I feel a good balance between trying to fix the problem and staying g positive about a great outcome is best. Being positive doesn’t mean those people are not trying to make a change for the best. Isn’t that why most people turn to religion for faith? That’s just my two cents from my dark box:)
