Nature offers us endless opportunities to get to know everything from the largest and most diverse to the smallest and that can survive in inhospitable places; In my experiences of trips and journeys, I met the Roraima frog (Oreophrynella quelchii), which is a species of amphibian of the Bufonidae family. Its size is very small, reaching an approximate maximum height of 2.2 centimeters.

Its coloration as we can see is black or dark brown, with protuberances in the region from the head to the back very similar to the rocky area that characterizes the Roraima and which it uses as an excellent opportunity for camouflage; On the other hand, its belly is yellow with spots between dark brown and black, which are unique spots, similar to those of our fingerprints. As we can see in the image.
Their activity is diurnal, they can be appreciated from very early making their jumps to move in the rocky area and feeling threatened they adopt the stone posture as a small ball by shrinking their legs, thus achieving an ideal camouflage against any threat , since its skin has protuberances and colors similar to that of the rock.
Its distribution is precisely Venezuela, Brazil and the area in Guyana claim belonging to our country, but at a height that exceeds 2600 and 2800 meters in the majestic Tepuy of Roraima.
It is unknown if there is a threat of extinction or vulnerability of this species, due to the few investigations that have been carried out in this regard. However, in my last and most recent visit, during the rainy season I could appreciate a good number of these specimens, which shows that their life and reproduction conditions are still favorable for the survival of this species, however it is recommended insist on the need to maintain awareness campaigns for backpackers visiting the Roraima, so that we maintain our beautiful Tepuy in the conditions of cleanliness and natural balance necessary for the species to survive in their environment, in which we are the visitors and they they are those who are at home.
