Greetings friends as an electrician engineer, I dedicated many things to the installation of electricity in homes and industries but many asked me how is its operation. all my text is of my authorship based on my experience and knowledge acquired during my student and professional career I hope you like and support me

so that they can understand its operation is important to know that it is a transfer switch: it is a device that is installed in the main electrical distribution board that allows the operation and commissioning of the power plant without danger of generating a short circuit and that the switch keeps the 2 power sources isolated, thus allowing a safe transfer from one power source to another, this device can be manual or automatic.

It is a classic switch very common in homes and small businesses its operation is simple has a knob and indicator lamps. the bulbs indicate whether the power supply is from the network or the power plant, the knob allows the passage of power supply either auxiliary or network is worth noting that the only disadvantage of this mechanism is that when there is a failure by the of the network or the electric power supply of the network arrives, the user has to turn on and off the auxiliary unit whenever it is required.

This switch has programmable electronic devices that allow detecting any failure that occurs by the network sending a signal to the generator to be activated automatically, until the power supply provided by the network is restored where the switch will send again a signal to the generator turning off automatically. The user will only have the responsibility of supplying the fuel that the generator requires and needs.

operation of the electric plant:

the power plants have a maximum capacity of generation of kva provided by the manufacturer of the equipment, that is why when installing a power plant it is important to look for a specialist in the field of electricity so that you can determine the power consumption (watts ) or total demand of the place where it is going to be installed allowed the proper functioning of the generator.

the power plants generate toxic gases and a lot of annoying noise so I recommend to be installed in open places the maintenance is essential for them to have a higher performance and durability.

an electric plant is composed of fuel (gasoline or diesel), a motor, an alternator and a battery its principle of operation is to transform the mechanical energy produced by the internal combustion engine into direct current electrical energy, which is filtered by the alternator to convert it into alternating current and in this way be used in the place where it was installed.

the image shows how it is a basic operation of the power plant with automatic switch I will tell you how is its operation according to my little experience in facilities of them, the power supplied by the network has to reach the commutator as the drivers of the auxiliary generator, by means of a basic programming, the response time of the generator is controlled.

When the network happens a failure or power cut the switch sends a signal to turn on the generator increasing the power to level and normalize the voltage is then blocked the input of the network and allows the switch that works with the current provided by the generator, when the problems of the network are solved and it is detected that the network is in the normal levels, blocks the current of the generator sending a signal so that the generator turns off.
