When you are a programmer, does spelling matter?

in #english7 years ago

Good evening, dear community. In this opportunity, the post that I bring to you is about the relationship between spelling and grammar with computer programming.

Certainly for some programmers, and computer workers the spelling does not matter, since they think that the fact that the program does the work that is asked for is sufficient. Well, I let you know that according to sources that I will leave at the end of the post, they say that spelling is important at the time of programming, so much so that there are companies in some countries that do not tolerate that a programmer does not write correctly, and therefore they will never have a job in those companies.

Particularly to me, it seems to me that regardless of the area of work, spelling should be taken care of, since everything we write and read is interpreted in one way or another according to how it is written and the punctuation marks in the text, since many words are pronounced in the same way, and what gives us the understanding of this is the context in which it is used.

In many cases, there are those who argue that to earn a large amount of money, they do not need to write well, and it may be true, but this argument has no validity since this is not applicable in all cases, and what will really be a excuse not to accept that they have bad spelling.

When we make a computer program, we must respect the syntax of the language we are using, because if not, this will give us error reports after error and can not be compiled correctly, so, being this the case, we can ask ourselves What does not also respect the spelling of the language in which we develop the program? remember that when we develop any application, the screen will show words, messages with reports or information to the user, which must be correctly written, since many would not like to see something like this:

Remember also, that computer programs, print reports that in many cases are used as legal or fiscal documentation (in the case of invoices to cite an example), in addition every program must have a user manual, which must be written correctly so that it is understandable to who or who have to use it.

How do I improve the spelling?

In this case I particularly recommend reading books, magazines and any information that is of interest so that it does not seem boring, but from reliable, official sources among others, remember that if we enter, for example, a public forum, anyone enters, writes and leave your comment, but there is no guarantee that your spelling is the best. Also document with the use of punctuation marks, the rules of some letters, among others so that little by little we improve and they will see that they will be better programmers of applications, since this helps to develop our language, enrich it and make us more skillful when interpreting the texts we read.
