RE: The Hounds of Tindalos

in #english6 years ago

A long time ago I read Frank Belnapp's Long book , the Hound of Tindalos, within the cycles initiated by Lovecraft of his famous Cthulhu myths. I am very struck by the fact that the famous sorcerer and astrologer of Queen Elizabeth I of England, Dr. John Dee, is also mentioned. As you know, apart from being a spy, as you are supposed to know, and influenced by a swindler with apparent mediumship, Edward Kelley, he was also the inventor of a curious and very complicated alphabet, supposedly provided by the angels', known as the Enoquian language', which according to them, was the language spoken in the Earthly Paradise. Many, many years ago, with this theme, I corresponded with many people. Thank you for reminding me of those good times. Greetings

Hi, juancar347:
I met John Dee after reading Il pendolo di Foucault by Umberto Eco. Aparentely, he and Francis Bacon were after a heavenly goal which consisted on reaching an universal awareness of everything.
It is said mordern Hebrew has some Enoquian words in its vocabulary and Dee, Kelley and Bacon used it to have a purest and highest conversation with god and his messagers.

I´m glad to know I´m not the one who enjoys these subjects and that I made you recall good times.
Take care!!!

Well, I got interested many years ago when I read one of Harry Dickson's adventures (the so-called American Sherlock Holmes) entitled The Red Studio, authored by Jean Ray, an unconventional writer based on Dee's famous black mirror. Later, I found a lot of information, especially biographical, in an interesting essay by the English writer Colin Wilson, entitled 'The Hidden';, which I recommend if you want to delve deeper into Dee's exciting story. Of course, I also read Foucault's Pendulum and some works related to one of the most famous codes, used precisely in the Bible and later adopted, among others, by the Knights Templar to transmit their messages. the Atbash code. Anyway, as you will see, some themes lead to others through mysterious and interesting connections. Cordial greetings

I heard about the atbash code while researching about ciphers and in Dan Brown´s Da Vinci Code. In the illustrated version. They shown the Hebrew alphabet and how to cipher and decipher the text.
I´ll check out Jean Ray´s and Colin Wilson´s work and I´ll give you mi impressions. Maybe, I´ll write another essay as I did with the hounds.
Thanks, again!!!

I'll write it with interest. Greetings
