Antarctica is the southernmost continent on Earth. It is located entirely in the southern hemisphere, almost entirely south of the Antarctic polar circle, contains the geographic south pole and is surrounded by the Antarctic Ocean.
With 14,000,000 km², it is the fourth largest continent after Asia, America and Africa.
