Articles in English in a simple way!!!

There are three types of articles:

A. Indefinite articles : a/ an

• Used to talk about something / someone mentioned for the first time.
• Example: I need a phone (not specific / any phone)
• "a" : is used before consonant sound: a dog / a pilot
• "an": is used before vowel sound : an engineer / an apple

B. Definite article: the

• used to talk about something/ someone specific and already known to the listener.
• Examples : 

1. The phone on my desk belongs to Karim.
2. I have a cat. The cat is black.

C. Zero article:   Ø  

• used to talk about something / someone that has a general meaning like: people, life , water, sports, happiness, countries, cities, music , languages ...etc.
• Examples:   

1. Ø  life is so difficult.
2. He speaks   Ø  Spanish.
