Initial Disputes in the Conquest

After the conquest and the effervescent situation generated in the American territory by the conflicts for the colonial territories and later by the suspension of the privileges of the encomenderos required the establishment of laws to organize the new territories, besides the sending of loyal officials to the Crown to reach a new order. One of the attempts was the New Laws of 1542, influenced by the preaching of the Dominican Bartolomé de las Casas, which further altered the minds of the encomenderos and unleashed new wars to which the conflicts with the Andean population were added.

The social appeasement and the ordering of the administration were achieved after a long and difficult process of colonial consolidation during the presence in Peru of Viceroy Toledo.

CONFLICTS THROUGH THE TERRITORIES AFTER THE CONQUEST

In 1534, King Charles V divided the Spanish territories of South America into two: Nueva Castilla for Francisco Pizarro (from 1st south latitude to 14th, near Pisco) and Nueva Toledo for Diego de Almagro (from parallel 14th to 25th , in Taltal, Chile). To consolidate his domains, Almagro had to explore Chilean lands; nevertheless, I return to Cuzco disillusioned by the poor territory discovered. The difficult struggles against the Araucanians and the threat of mutiny by his troops had exhausted him.

Considering that Cuzco was part of his government, on his return from Chile, Almagro took the city and captured Hernando Pizarro. Upon learning of this, Francisco Pizarro, who was in Lima, called Mala talks, with the mediation of Fray Francisco de Bobadilla, in order to avoid an armed struggle. The ruling was in favor of the Government of New Castile. This caused the indignation of Almagro, who took up arms with his followers and went to Cuzco with the objective of taking the city. Thus began a stage of conflicts between the conquerors that has been called the Civil Wars.

WAR OF THE COMMITTED

After many years of wars between the conquerors, peace was achieved but was interrupted by the claims of the encomenderos, as they began to lose their privileges. Thus began the war of the encomenderos.
