Do people really think England is the biggest favorites to win Euro 2024?

I just went to check some football results and then I saw the odds for the different countries winning the European Championship in football. It was interesting that the country with the lowest odds (still give you a 4x return) is England.

As you can see above, England has the lowest odds, followed by France, Germany, Portugal, and Spain.

There are a few surprising elements to me in that list. First of all, I do consider France to be the biggest favorites and not England. The second is that I believe Portugal has just as big a chance of winning the tournament as Germany, and if Spain can keep it up, they have just as great a chance to win the tournament as Germany as well.

It is hard to predict, and the next country on the list is Italy. Well, I do expect one of these countries to win, but it would be cool to see some big surprise coming our way, like when Denmark won the European Championship in 1992. I don't believe Denmark could be capable of something similar again, but maybe Belgium could come in as a surprise? Serbia, Hungary, and Switzerland are three countries I also believe are capable of surprising, even though I don't expect any of them to be good enough to make it all the way to the final and to a big and shining trophy.

Watching the European Championship in public!

One thing I am sad about is that there are few cities where you can watch the European Championship in football in public places. I have done research and in cities like London and Prague there are only indoor venues where you need to make a reservation beforehand where you can watch the different matches.

I do believe this is connected to the dangers of terrorism and big crowds outdoor cause trouble, but it also has to do with the broadcasting rights of UEFA, making public screenings nearly impossible unless it is connected to a bar or pub that pays a lot for the broadcasting rights. But still, they are only allowed to show it to their customers, and thus, public screenings become nearly impossible.
