Engineering and future. Are Engineers ready for the future?
Hello everyone, today I will write a little about engineering and the future of engineering with new technologies.
Society is constantly changing and engineering must adapt to remain relevant, for this it is necessary for engineering to anticipate advances and prepare for a future where it will provide more benefits to humanity.
Technology has changed the social framework in which we live, extending our lives, allowing people to communicate in an unimaginable way, creating wealth and economic growth, and more remarkable opportunities can be seen in the rapid advances of nanotechnology, biotechnology and high computation Yields.
With all of the above mentioned, it is common to think about what engineering should be like in 2025? Will it be a reflection of what it is today? Can engineering plan its own future? How can engineers be better educated to be leaders, able to balance the benefits of new technologies? Whatever the answers to the previous questions, what is certain is that engineering has a great challenge ahead, where it will require more complex solutions and greater creativity for them.
The engineering activities will be framed for the future by:
- • The pace of technological innovation, which will continue to be exponential
- • The world in which technology will be deployed will be globally interconnected to levels never seen
- • The presence of technology in our daily lives will be transparent and more important than ever.
Some of the major engineering challenges will be:
- • Make economic solar energy
- • Provide fusion power
- • Providing access to safe drinking water
- • Improve urban infrastructure
- • Advanced health informatics
- • Safe cyberspace
- • Improving virtual reality
- • Advanced personalized learning
- • Engineer of the tools of scientific discovery
Many of the key attributes of engineers in 2025 will be the same as today, but will be made more complex by the impact of new technologies. Engineers like today and yesterday will possess strong analytical skills and core will remain the principles of science, math and discovery and design domains for a particular challenge and practical purpose.
Engineers will exhibit that practical ingenuity that characterizes them today, as technology continues to grow in complexity and the world becomes increasingly dependent on technology, the magnitude, scope, and impact of the challenges that society will face in The future will probably change.
Creativity will change only in the sense that the problems to be solved may require the synthesis of a wider range of interdisciplinary knowledge and a greater focus on systemic constructs and outcomes
Given the uncertain and changing nature of the world in which engineers work in 2025, engineers will need something that can not be described in a single word. It implies dynamism, agility, resilience and flexibility
