It's amazing how that works, and not only for kids, but adults. Most of us have to learn that ideal at some point in our lives and then do the best we can to instill it in the next generation.
And it's also a balance, because the objects should not be so important that they overshadow everything else, or become an obsession. So, there's also the downside to avoid of all of this.
Interestingly enough, valuing something you have time, effort and money in applies to the blockchain, too. I wonder just how many people end up leaving after it proves to be more work than they bargained for because they were allowed in for free.
Some people take the free gift and use it to build themselves and others. Others use it to build only themselves. And yet others walk away from the gift, or don't appreciate it, because it didn't require effort to get it, and so they don't see the ultimate value in it beyond what they thought would be instant monetary rewards.
Wow, that took a turn. Guess I've been reading that topic a little too much in my feed this week. :)
