The Engagement League - Sponsored by @curie

This league is not based around financial rewards and relates to engagement.

Everyone currently on my master list has a chance here - including those powering down or dealing in delegations over the past couple of weeks.

I've used some metrics (which is the fancy way of saying that made up some numbers) relating to:

  • Posts (P)
  • Comments - number of (C)
  • Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
  • Number of people spoken to (PS)
  • Comments - length in characters (C L)
  • Witness votes (W) (for those proxying witness votes, your total is always 30)
  • Upvotes to others (V)
  • Upvotes to different authors (U V)
  • Self-votes - a (getting smaller each week) minus score for this one sorry! (S V)

Firstly, if you are placed in the table above then you among the top 25% of the league entrants!

Congratulations to this weeks Engagement League winner, 8 in a row, the undisputed king of engagement...... @janton! 🏆

@janton has placed first for two months in a row now, and in this time has submitted around 2 million characters to the Steem blockchain, amazing!

In second this week, we have @veryspider who has spoken to 183 different people (with at least XX amount of characters in the message), very well done!

A previous multiple champion, @glenalbrethsen is in third place with almost 280,0000 characters typed this past week across 408 comments - an average of 688 per reply!

Excellent engagement levels also from @ecoinstant @lynncoyle1, @cicisaja, @bengy, @abh12345, @hananali, @gillianpearce, @funbobby51 who will all be receiving some STEEM this week.

Those without a self-vote (from their main account at least! 😱) and placed in the top ranks will also receive a little STEEM. These people are: @headchange, @bashadow, @denmarkguy, @anouk.nox, @nomadicsoul, @artgirl, and @crypto-econom1st.

Well done everyone!

The Curation League / Rewards based

Please find the rules in a previous post.

The end column is what I think is a genuine indicator of how well you are financially working the curation game with the tools, including vested Steem Power, that you have at your disposal.

Bravo @miniature-tiger for taking top spot this week!

This is really awesome!

Firstly because I personally like a bit of change. I see this as a new challenge.
Secondly it shakes things up. I see some new names in the top of the ranking.
And thirdly I think this helps in making new friends and talking to Steemonians outside our current circles.
Last but not least I can analyze the numbers again. I didn't have to much time to do so this week.

However I believe this does create the possibility to beat @janton so once in a while. One basically needs a very popular account to do so. Cause if such a person writes a few posts they will receive so many reactions which score them points for PS that they might win that week. To bad that I never have posts with 250+ comments....

What is precisely the definition of Number of people spoken to?
I send them a comment? They send me a comment? Or both?

I notice 1 improvement, you could write PS as header for each part of the table.

Next I have a question. Did you consider to post the table as Steemit table instead of snapshot? That way you would tag everyone. That might help so once in a while to attract all Steemians that won't read this post every week.

Thanks for this comment, very complete 😁

I guess I missed 'PS' for each section of the table, it will be there next time. Both tables could be markup with tags, do you think people would be ok with that? 200 (max) names is a lot of shoutouts!

As far as PS scoring (comments you make to individual accouhts), some have suggested there is too much weight on this metric, but for the reasons you state:

  • encouraging friend-circle growth
  • mixing the top 10 up
  • new challenge
  • and additionally, making the EL less of a time/typing competition

I'm reasonably happy with the metric score. Some members placed lower than expected, but the scoring is the same for all, and so it's just a case of adapting.

I'm tempted, as @enjar suggested last week, to alter the weight of one metroc each week, or add a secret metric, to further give a chance to accounts specialising in a particular scoring area, but will likely not do that until the dust has settled.

I think that's everything covered!

Ohw one more thing. I was thinking, let's assume that Bernie Sanders participates in the engagement league. Do you think he would end up pretty high some weeks?
As he sometimes creates like 5 so called funny posts where 200+ comments are below the posts. So he could score a real high PS score and grab the prize 😎

He's very welcome to join!

I'm not sure, i think comment count / length / short replies to many will leave his score quite short.

I do think he's quite funny sometimes. So perhaps I should invite Bernie myself 😬

I would use the tagging just once in a while. You could also use it in combination with a remark/question to ask if people like it or not and let you know in the comments.

I really like Enjars idea to change the calculation. Although I would suggest to do this one in a few weeks.

I'm still not sure how I score 1 PS point?
Do I need to talk to someone? Or someone to me? Or both?
Or will you just keep that a secret?

Congrats with the 7th place @bengy ! Your Upvote Share [worth 3.380 Steem] has been assigned to you and you will start receiving a daily upvote from the @upvoteshares account from now. For more info on how the project works check out all the details in this post.

Feel free to follow the @upvoteshares account for future updates and feel free to ask any questions you have. Enjoy the upvotes !

3.38 STEEM - nice one @bengy!

Thanks again for running this contest /analysis! It is really interesting to see our metrics... I have a feeling one of my posts (which I'm struggling to keep up with replies) for me boosted into the lucky 7 spot has week...

Edit :Oops, I forgot to thank my sponsor, @costanza thank you thank you! Sorry, I thought I was sponsored by @upvoteshares! Thanks again, sorry for the misreading!

No worries, I will have to check this post out!

Wow, thanks so much! I only just found out about your project a few days ago (via @thedarkhorse), I'm honoured to have your support and thank you for sponsoring the league!

omg i didnt even realize i had been that engaged this week lol

..... :coldsweat:

congrats to all winners and thank you @abh12345 <3 <3

Spider, the art community would be a very different place without your marvelous engagement!

I use, among a few other sources, the @c-squared blog very heavily to find great content to engage with, and your influence does not go unnoticed; that you find them before @c-squared simply amazes me!

Its users like you that make this platform such a fun place to be. Thank you for all that you do!

awah, thank you thank you, your words are very kind and makes me think maybe i have wings hahahaha thanks very much !!!!

Well done for reaching so many people and taking 2nd prize this week @veryspider!

thank you asher <3 you are super !

you are awesome @veryspider, congratulations!

you are amazing yourself, @cicisaja <3

howdy there @veryspider! tremendous job this week! extremely impressive especially the PS number, I don't even know that many people! great job and good luck next week!

you are super incredible with your engagement level ! KING OF ENGAGEMENT !!!!

great, great job and good luck next week, also !!!!

hey I don't know even half the people you do! haha! that's amazing and your score and achievement this week was remarkable!
thank you and the same to you!

haha @veryspider! Just commenting on the c-squared posts alone is engaged :)

Thanks Ash, I appreciate this. I know veryspider comments on the c-squared posts too, so that explains those numbers :) I was doing the same, but such is life :) Have a great Sunday.

Congratulations to @janton, again!!! and @veryspider ! Nice job :)

Lynn, you are fabulous, and as everything else in life, these things cycle (except possibly for Janton....). I know that I cannot keep this up forever, and eventually my attention will be turned to something or another else and then I will drop off on commenting.

But the experience, the connections, the FUN! that I am having (and it seems like you are too!) is worth every bit, for me at least. So many articles, so many users so happy to get a few nice comments on their articles!

But I don't think the top spots are all that sustainable, over the long run. There will always be hungry new users cycling in and life and stuff cycling us out.

Blessings to you and all that you do!

Thank you @ecoinstant, and I'd agree, except for @janton who doesn't seem to tire, everyone else will probably slow down a bit eventually :)

It is great fun commenting and meeting new people here too. I've gotten so busy with the things that I have to do here, that I miss just searching and reading articles :)

Thanks again for such a sweet comment!

Yes, agreed. After a much sought after victory I would like to return to searching some favorite tags and finding the diamonds in the rough! I have a few other fun plans to do as well, but I have set my mind to a goal and shall achieve it :)

Enjoy life, and take some pictures for us ;-p

Thank you @ecoinstant! I hope to soon :)

You wouldn't be interested in being an occasional judge for us at the Pay it Forward Contest of thedarkhorse's, would you? Fell free to say no please. We just had one of our judges have to leave and we're thinking of finding several who are interested in doing it on a rotating basis.

I love judging things! I'm not familiar with the contest, but let's try one and see!

Here's a link to last week's contest so you can check it out, and I'll talk to the other judges to make sure it's all good.

Thanks and stay tuned... :)

Looks fun in theory, let me know what they say! I'm in for at least one ;p

We've got someone for this week already @ecoinstant, but you're on our list now haha

No problem! Just let me know and I'll be happy to help :)

howdy this fine Sunday evening @lynncoyle1! thank you so much but my mind is blown by how high you can score while being away and doing so many other things..must be the world's greatest multitasker working with extreme efficiency! (maybe you can teach me how to type fast)

Hey @janton, thanks for that! I remember typing class in high school, on typewriters lol That's where it all started!

that's nothing, when I was in High School they just came out with typewriters! ha! no but we had manuals and then they came out with electrics. Still didn't help my speed.

hahaha the good ol' days @janton 😅 Not!

Thank you Lynn.

You scored higher than I expected this week, so very well done for finding the time!

My best wishes as always for you guys x

Thanks Asher; it was mid-week when I made the decision to slow things down, so I think the true test will be where I place next Sunday :) Thanks again!

A big congratulations to @janton, definitely the king of engagement! Mind blown! And congratulations to everyone else in the winner's circle, as well as all the participants in general... we all deserve to get a pat on the back for being part of something that's definitely building community and counteracting Steemit's retention issue. I sense a lot of loyalty here!

The new "Lucky 7" bonus looks interesting... I'm going to have to check out @costanza's initiative.

Managed to scratch my way back into the top 40 this week, which I consider pretty much a personal success. And back in the curation listings too, after an absence. Seems like a hit-or-miss thing for me.

Last but not least, a big thanks to @abh12345 for coordinating the leagues! Definitely my favorite challenge on Steemit!

Happy Sunday everyone!

=^..^=

Thank you very much for your kind comments @curatorcat,it means a lot to me to receive positive feedback for the Leagues.

It's great that this post has in some ways built a community of active and engaged Steemians, I never envisioned this when I started out.

The new metric I added this week, any thoughts on how it has changed proceedings?

Thanks again!

I like it because it works and it builds community and I believe it has the kind of gift economy and pay-it-forward spirit that Steemit originally set out to spread.

The new metric? It certainly made the aggregate scores a lot higher... but I'm not sure how it will motivate people. Hopefully it will encourage people to go visit more new folks they don't otherwise see.

=^..^=

Hopefully it will encourage people to go visit more new folks they don't otherwise see.

One of the main reasons for it's introduction. Perhaps there is too much weight on the metric range right now, we shall see if that changes..

howdy to you @curatorcat! thank you and I've enjoyed our conversations this week and you placed pretty good yourself!

omgosh... these numbers are crazy good... Congrats to @janton for winning in a field that is blowing away all the records... @veryspider and @glenalbrethsen you both are amazing too... I am amazed at the level of engagement that all 3 of you have going! And really its five amazing performances, if you factor in @ecoinstant and the Queen @lynncoyle1. It is truly incredible to witness this level of engagement and you make all of us proud to be here when we see what the top 5 here have done!

Fantastic! :)

Hey, @davemccoy—well, thanks for the shoutout here. I'm feeling like the odd man out here, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the sentiment. Times change and so we need to roll with the times, right? Good luck with whatever endeavors you have going on this week. No doubt, they are legion and legendary. :)

@glenalbrethsen I wouldn't feel that way ... Omgosh, you all 5 really are completely lighting it up... less than 10% away from the top for any of you is a very small amount. But yes it nice to see a new era and some interesting times I think will be ahead! I am never going to count you out though... As long as you are here, I have no doubt you will be commenting sincerely. That's what you did even before Asher's league. ;)

Well, we'll see. I'm starting to feel the need to wind down somehow. I'm not making much headway against our gentleman redneck, and it's hard to tell from week to week where the next surprise is going to come from. With people taking time off and still managing to end up high in the ranking, I need to figure out how that happens because i spend way too much time just trying to stay in second. This time, it didn't happen, obviously. So, anyway. Not complaining. Just observing, and hopefully adapting. :)

less than 10% away from the top for any of you is a very small amount.

In previous weeks, this was certainly not the case and therefore I'm quiet pleased that the new metric score has tightened things up at the top. Cheers!

howdy sir @davemccoy! haha! it is pretty cool to see the numbers, I'm not talking about mine but the CL numbers of Glen and veryspider's PS number..I don't even KNOW that many people on here! And I know that @ecoinstant was busy traveling all week and doing other things and then he still puts up those kinds of numbers and comes in 4th? lol! Wait till he gets back in his office and has some time. Lynns numbers are mind-blowing for not being on steemit much! I'm pretty amazed and don't have a clue if I will be leading next week but whoever wins deserves it! thank you sir!

hehehehe I'm just warming up!

Let me make some faces here to make sure I get the character count ;p XD :-P

hey @ecoinstant can't you go to some other contest to warm up? lol.

Sure! Right after I win this one ;p

Rats foiled again! ok well do what you must.

@janton yes omgosh... that is out of this world... I can't believe how big all the numbers were. Back in the "old days" when I was young in the league, these numbers would've made 3 weeks total... I'm simply floored... All the top 5 are truly outstanding and I'm very happy and proud of all of you for sure!

It was mid-week before I decided to slow it all down @janton, so the true test will be seen next Sunday :)

well unless you already know what this week is going to be like you could have more time than you had last week right?

Thanks for the mention! I am so glad that the prize pool is so deep, because the competition has become very intense! The real benefit to engagement I think is being seen, especially in the curation communities where featured authors are getting people looking at their posts and interacting. This is really good for the platform and user retention, getting users rewarded is part but not the whole picture, getting them tied into the community is the next part of the secret sauce!

beautifully said sir, it's obvious why you are moving up so fast! I've really enjoyed our conversations this week and look forward to many more!

I could write whole books on the still unanswered questions from your comments to me! You are a true conversationalist! It always seems like you are really interested, and I can't believe you would fake it all week for the 6 bucks or whatever you win here!

This week I will have to start asking you more questions!

nonono I have nothing to say! haha! seriously though sir you know the love we have as Believers, which isn't ours, but it flows through us and that's what I have for people and am sincerely interested in them. It has also increased my prayer list significantly! lol.

The truth is I'm just having a blast and it's not work it's fun and interesting. If I had to fake anything I wouldn't do it.

Agreed 111%!

The prayer list is fantastic, the interaction with real people. I find that it is a special brand of pioneering, creative person that finds their way onto an experimental platform like this. Just the type of people that need powerful prayer warriors working in their favor!

howdy again my friend and vanquisher sir ecoinstant! perfectly said sir, I couldn't agree more and wish I could have stated it like that! lol.

Tell me good sir Janton, what does your day look like? Do you help out around the house? Are you searching your vast lands for wildlife? I was very impressed by your bird pictures over on your blog!

@ecoinstant I completely agree with you and its amazing to see your numbers. I am a huge fan of Asher's league and now that you are involved I think we will have another major driver of enthusiasm for not only the league but also for engagement in general! Its awesome to see and I love that you jumped right to the top! The weeks ahead will be fun and I agree completely that user retention is the number 1 issue (and that starts with engagement no doubt!) Nice to meet you :)

And a pleasure to meet you!

I've been sneaking up over the last month, three weeks ago I didn't see myself, two weeks ago I appeared, last week I got my first steem for no-self voting!

Enthusiasm is my clarion call, I try a lot of things but I go at them with my all! Great engagement, like we were talking with Janton, is not a chore its a pleasure! And if my pleasure is rewarded, and good for the platform, what more could one ask for?

I see a lot of excited younger users starting to find out about and participate in this engagement league. This thing might turn the tide on the low numbers, having fun pays on/in steem!

@ecoinstant I agree with you completely! To me this is "the" place to be. Most of the people that are serious contributors seem to want to be here and most of them are really helping to grow and encourage the newer/smaller folks. That will the be lifeblood going forward, so I'm thrilled to see we are in complete agreement! :)

Hey, since we are having a conversation, an 'engagement' ;p

how do you feel about the currently 'open' system of steemit (I have referred to it as the 'everything' drawer) versus future possible 'closed' communities on each d.app or token (SMT). Do you think this will increase or decrease engagement?

I think of this in terms of how people react to certain content, especially zappl, steepshot, or even some types of poetry, as being not 'full' enough, or 'low-effort'.

Interested in hearing your thoughts about the future of this neat platform of possibilities!

I still consider myself new even though I've been here since Dec... But my thinking is the rewards are too concentrated at the top for steemit to be anything huge. In order for them to be distributed more, I think the price will have to go lower or a new buyer to emerge.

I know Steemit INC seems to be primarily focused on the tech part of the platform, but feel they have seriously missed an opportunity to encourage true engagement. The ones that have survived in my class are the ones that are unique, but many many have gone. I'm hoping one day they will "hire" people like Asher through a nice delegation to get down and encourage the newbies to get involved. So far he has some help, but from very few people with much power.

I'm hoping that the smart tokens come out as another currency that will spur some stick activities here. A good example could be steem monsters. If they can give their own rewards in SM bucks for instance, I think it would make that game even more fun. (and attract even more people to the platform)

I am one that is encouraged about the SMTs, but I also recognize that they are very past due and may never actually arrive. I am not too concerned about the low quality of the fringe apps, because my thinking is that if they can attract the right people then those things fade away.

In some ways they've attracted some stars, but I hope they wake up and keep them here too! People like the top 5 here in this game. We need you to be energized and spreading the love here regularly!

Just my 2 cents :P ... I welcome any reply back for sure :D

Thanks Dave! The numbers really are crazy! I think I'm going to let the big boys run with it from here :)

Oh I see it Dave; just don't know that I'm up for the challenge is all 😎

@lynncoyle1 I understand... it takes a lot of work and your mind has to be in it. Shit you have kept it up longer than me, so I really respect the hell out of you for that! How are you doing? Did you have a good weekend?

Thanks Dave; I was going to tell you to put your diagram to use for yourself lol Thanks for the respect though!!

How am I doing? Have a look at my last post if you can please. It's easier for me than trying to explain here.

ok will do now

May I join the leagues?

You certainly can - added!

Good morning/afternoon, @abh12345.

Thanks for the leagues, and thank you for giving us new challenges and new opportunities to engage.

Thank you, @curie for the ongoing sponsorship. I can't speak for everyone, but I do believe that all of us are appreciative of you all's involvement and desires to see engagement flourish on the STEEM platform.

Congratutlations to @janton for consecutive win No. 8. It's tough to find new superlatives. You've taken on all challengers and now even a category change and made it through with plenty of room to spare. Well done, sir!

@veryspider—amazing amount of different people spoken to during the week. You've set the bar. Now it's up to the rest of us to try to chase it.

@ecoinstant, @lynncoyle1, @cicisaja, @bengy, @hananali, @gillianpearce, @funbobby51—congratulations on making it or remaining in the Top 10. And just what are we calling the No. 7 place winner now? Lucky No. 7? Well done.

@smithlabs, @headchange, @bashadow, @steevc, @blazing, @denmarkguy, @teutonium, @tarazkp, @anouk.nox, @nomadicsoul, @artgirl, @chireerocks, @crypto-econom1st, and @brittandjosie—congratulations to all of you as well. You all made the Top 25. You should all consider that as no small feat. Well done.

Onward and upward. :)

Thanks for the mention. I am pretty excited to even make the list. I love the league because I can challenge myself each week to do a bit more. This has to be one of the best projects on the platform. Everyone trying to up their numbers each week has to have an impact on the platform as a whole.
This was actually a pretty ingenious idea. Just think of how everyone on this list is expanding their circle each week and reaching more and more people. Maybe adding that new column to the scores will even increase that.

Oh, I believe it will dramatically, especially if people want to stay in the Top 10 each week. Regardless of the leagues, the more we can reach out, the better. :)

I concur with everything else you've said. It is one of the best projects, it is great for the platform, and we just need to get more and more people involved.

We should organize a go for the green week to promote the league. I know I need to spread the word more than I do. Never know when one of us will stumble upon another top five contender. I am sure they are out there just not getting counted yet.

I think Asher signed up quite a few after the total CL list he came up with, I think it was only last week still. He published two last week, so that's confusing me at the moment. :)

What he probably needs to do is run a list of the top 50 who have commented with unique users over a week's period of time. That would probably draw more of those folks out. Not sure if that query is possible, since he was having us do that individually last week, too. :)

Thanks! A completely unexpected placing this week!

Hey, @bengy. That's what happens when a category gets added to the engagement list results! You never know what's going to happen from one week to the next anyway, but even more so when there's something else to keep in mind. I think it's good, though. Helps us to get out there more, and hopefully engaging with folks in meaningful ways in the process.

I only just realised there was a new category! But in the end it doesn't really affect the way I Steem, just a nice surprise when I manage a decent placement! Also, interesting to see the statistics.

That's probably the best way to go about, @bengy. If you have a way of doing things that is working for you, there's no reason to change it. In my case, I've been trying to re-evaluate what I've been doing, so this change comes in the middle of that. Not sure what all will come of any tweaking, but I'm hoping to not only show up on this list, but the curation one as well. I've fallen off of it for weeks. :)

Thanks! Yeah it's my first time to get that 1 Steem for no self-upvote. 😂

Well, STEEM is STEEM, right? We all start somewhere. Regardless, the engagement league reminds us to engage, and if we're doing that, I think we're on the right track for us and STEEM. So, today it's an award for no self-upvote. Next week, who knows. Asher changes something else, and it's anyone's game. :)

Thank you @glenalbrethsen ! Have a great day!

Well, you're welcome, and I wish you a good day and week, too. Never seems like there's ever enough time to get to everything, but hey. We just keep trying, don't we? :)

Lol that's absolutely true! But it would be even more exhausting if the days had 36 hours in it, I guess.. so maybe it's better like this :)

Oh, probably wouldn't want that many more, but maybe four hours? Yeah, that probably wouldn't work, because the next thing you know I'd be asking for six, and that still wouldn't be enough. Guess it's a good thing it doesn't matter either way, right? I am not the time master. :)

Dear Glen,
Thank you very much, an achievement with alot off joy. I am in My 8 month here and never expected it to be so great. Planning to stay here for a while. And congrats to you too well done👍

Well, that's good to hear. The engagement league has kept me going, that's for sure. I'm pretty much in my eighth month, too, and I marvel that I'm still here and I also wonder what i would do without it. :) I guess somewhere in the middle would be a good place to be. I'm glad you're happy with what you're doing. Any major ideas or plans in the works?

Just keeping steady and be as divers as possible seems to be the plan for the next 4 months and than I Will See what I have to Change and invest

Sounds like a good plan to me. Consistency and diversity, evaluate, change if necessary and grow. The specifics of what and how and when reveal themselves, right? It's probably not always as simple as I just described it. I'm just liking the plan. No need to overthink when you can work it on the fly and only change things if they're not going in the direction you'd like them to go.

Thank you for the inspiration @glenalbrethsen , getting appreciation from a top steemian is no small feat either. Keep supporting and appreciating and above everything keep writing all those millions of words you are writing. Your stats were clearly very impressive. And true that, Onward and upward :)

You say so. I'm putting in the time, mostly. Without it, I couldn't do what I've been doing. And my wife would rather I did something else, anyway. :)

That's the thing, putting a lot of time . For people that's the toughest part, this is waht i was discussing with @janton on that other post, people are not patient enough to stay on steemit and the retention rate is only 6% out of the people who join in here. people need to learn to give it more time and they will get to the required spot too.

Retention is low, and while some of it is patience, it's an uphill climb, much steeper than it needs to be. I don't know if it has to be effortless, but it could be lots of effort and greater reward. Waiting for STEEM to go back up seems to be most people's plan for success here and that's hardly something any of us control.

I'm afraid what's biting into the retention now is are all the folks who are waiting weeks to get approved, and then forgetting they even have an account or getting fed up with the fact that it took so long. We've got folks that don't even get to the "patience" part. :)

Did you know I actually have big feet. I really have size EU 50. How did you know that?

I think it should be easier to beat Janton now. Although it would be nice if he makes it up to 10 consecutive wins. 8 seemed already impossible, but he's just terrific!

Yeah, very funny. Feat and feet. Nice play on words. I don't even know what a size EU 50 is. Size 50 here would put you into Godzilla-sized shoes, I think. :)

It could be easier. Depends on what janton does, though. As for him winning 10, as long as he's out there earning it each week, no problem. I wouldn't characterize it as nice, though. I mean, I think he's cool, too, but I'm not rooting for him over anyone else, including me. :)

I'm quite certain that's US size 15.

Do you also measure my lent like 6 feet 8"?

I suppose so. I mean, I guess if you're something like 2.03 meters, that would work out to 6' 8". Not trying to stereotype, but did you or do you play any sports? Basketball or rugby maybe? I'd say American Football but that seems more unlikely. You'd be pretty big for a soccer player.

BMX
Volleyball
Table tennis

That's about it

Well, volleyball is definitely a good sport for tall people, especially if you can jump and spike. Table tennis is interesting, but imagine long arms help. BMX I'm not familiar with enough to say how height affects it, but I'm sure it's fun. :)

Hi Glen, thanks for the shoutout! The leagues are definitely an important part of Steemit, and a great way to encourage those who come here with genuine aspirations to "build something."

I only added myself four weeks ago... because I was curious to see how "significant" what I've already been doing for the past year and a half would be, in the group like this; I'm definitely "quietly pleased with myself" that my efforts place me in the top-25.

Hey, @denmarkguy. It's a good "quietly pleased with yourself" to be. And also a good feeling to know that you've been going about it in good fashion, too. Even if you are pretty sure of the way forward, it's nice to have confirmation of it at some point, as well as to see how you might be doing or not doing, based on some benchmarks.

I wish I'd come across the leagues much sooner, or been smarter about it to begin with. I think it would have saved me some ranting and disappointment. Or maybe not. Those things seem to be inherent on STEEM anyway. :)

Thanks for the roll-call Glen, I'm sorry about the tardy replies here this last week. It won't happen again :)

Congratulations on your prize!

Hey, @abh12345.

When I saw this, I thought, Uh, I didn't do a roll call this time. :) I went to the new engagement post first and commented and have been working my way up through the replies I have since Saturday night. So, It took me a second to realize this was from last week and that's where the tardiness was coming from, too :)

I know you're being courteous, and I'm glad for it, but you don't have to worry about answering a week old comment unless you really, really want to. :) No worries on my end.

I do have a couple of questions about how things work with the engagement league data collecting, though, if you don't mind. I know, here I go again. :)

  • The first has to do with the pull period. I've asked this before but it was mainly about when it was pulled, rather than the date range or period for which it is pulled. The question is, even though you may pull it earlier or later on Sunday, is the period of time of the data request always the same?

In other words, is it always, for just an example, a set period between the time on the previous Sunday through another set time on the following Sunday, or are the times where there may be overlap of some hours each week?

  • The second has to do with CR.

We've talked about where the starting point is on CR, but that was if a comment tree was being instigated or continued. From the top. Say, I posted, someone commented, and I replied. Or someone else posted, I commented and they replied.

What I'm wondering here is, what about if I come in on a conversation that's already two deep but that I wasn't apart of the conversation to begin with. Does my first comment get counted as two deep from the start, or is the way the data is getting pulled discount my initial jump in between two other parties and only start counting after that?

Thanks in advance for any answers you can give me.

This post replies are going on longer than the latest :D

7 days back from when I get my sorry backside out of bed. I don't think this matters too much, and the 'random' timing is perhaps more fair as we have people across many time zones. Saying that, 3/4 hours difference each week is unlikely to have a huge effect.

CR > 2

The Post is 0 (depth)
The first reply is 1
The 2nd reply is 2
The 3rd reply is when the points start coming into play.

If you were to jump into a conversation with a reply at depth > 2 then this would give you points.

I hope this helps!

This helps, @abh12345. Thank you. With the first question I'm now wondering if there might be an overlapping period from one week to the next, and if so, if comments within that overlapping period would get counted both weeks. I've never personally experienced that, but was wondering if it is possible. As far as when the data is pulled, that's obviously up to you. I make the choice not to get on Steemit on Sunday, so whatever activity goes on there until the list is pulled is what it is. I just try to seven days worth of work in whatever time I have. :)

There could be overlap if I pulled the data earlier than the previous week, some entries would be counted again.

If it's bugging people then I might change it to cover Sunday to Saturday, I don't think anyone else has mentioned it before :)

Oh, I'm sure no one has. I'm the only one who sits around thinking about these things, so I wouldn't change what you're doing at all. And it was mostly curiosity more than anything on my part. No one has asked or talked to me about any of this. So, no worries, and I do appreciate the answers.

Thank you for the Steem prize @abh12345 and @curie for the sponsorship.

Congratulations to all the winners.

Have a great week evryone. 😊

howdy @gillianpearce! congratulations for always being up in the Green no matter what you have going on, talk about consistent! that's a great role model.

howdy back to you @janton. Congratulations on being top again. You must really, really love this Steemit game. 😂

Well done you!

howdy today on this fine Monday @gillianpearce! yes Ma'am I'm having a great time and it's a blast so hopefully it will pay off some day. Thank you Ma'am!

My pleasure Gillian!

I hope you've enjoyed your away time, and that the new metric suits.

This reply comes at 4:11am local time, I should probably head to bed 😁

This reply comes at 4:11am local time

Blimey. You're worse than me @abh12345. It was gone 1.00 a.m. by the time I went to bed this morning but that was after a day mostly spent travelling.

My time away was good, albeit very busy.

Looks like the new metric is moving me down the table, although I've had much less time for Steemit these last couple of weeks and the thing that suffers the most at such times is engaging with new accounts.

Working away last week was compounded by a truly rubbish internet connection that was frequently down.

However, I'm currently in a "bored now", want something new sort of place which wasn't helped by working with people face to face last week.

The grass is always greener and all that!

Just spent a few hours on the beach which was glorious and actually went for a swim since the water temperature has increased again. Brilliant!

Oh my. Steem is down to $1.15. I paid $1.17 for it yesterday. I was robbed! 😂

Hope you're still finding plenty of time to frequent the lilo!

Hope you're still finding plenty of time to frequent the lilo!

I'm thinking of taking the pink one for a spin today😁

1.15/1.17, no biggie when the target is double figures!

I'm thinking of taking the pink one for a spin today

I'm sure you will look splendid upon it! 😂

Steem's gone back to $1.19 now and I was too tired to buy some last night when it was $1.14. The sky is falling!!!! 😱

Looks like the new formula shook things up a little bit, but over all not to much, but it is nice to see change. I think PS change/addition is a good one. It is nice to see people are talking to a lot of people. Not just glad handing and black slapping each other, so I like the new number.

Speaking of numbers, unbelievable two months, and all those words, congratulation @janton.

Things are going pretty good for myself, I think I am finding for me the right balance almost.I was stoked to see that I made it up to place 64 in the curation league. Almost earning 1 SP per 1000, Not sure what changed, I still vote for pretty much the same stuff all the time, so it must be that a few of the people here for ROI due to price levels must be taking a break. I think that is a bad decision, I mean look at me no real effort and almost 1 SP per 1000.

Back to Engagement. Like I said I like the new category. A little bit more work on my part and I might be able to claw my way back into the green, we will just have to see. It was a nice week here, a few sunny days with out the rain, but overall a nice week, in and out of doors. Congratulations to everyone on the list, Job well done by all.

Hey @bashadow

Thanks for the comment on the new metric, I feel it could be a useful one. I'm not 100% on the value attributed just yet, and it may change depending on feedback.

Glad to hear you are happy with the week a progress, positivity in a bear market is always welcome. The Engagement continues, whatever the weather 😊

thank you sir @bashadow! Congratulations on your placing, you are always in the top brackets and I see your excellent comments everywhere. In fact, most of them I say man, I wish I could comment like that!

Thank you for that. I find it fun to leave a comment every now and then, with my vote. It is depressing looking at post with votes but no words, especially when they are good post.

howdy tonight @bashadow! yes it can be a little discouraging at times but you don't have that problem at least! what is that profile photo of, I can't make it out? lol.

It is my little chihuahua Granite. I have a picture of him somewhere, who knows where on my blog, I don't even know when. I Know the picture, he is on the beach with rocks and blends in. There use to be away to find the pictures you posted, but I lost the link to that page.
