IHSAHN PREPARES A NEW LAUNCH FOR THE MONTH OF MAY, "ÀMR"

The Norwegian musician Vegard Sverre Tveitan, better known as Ihsahn, leader of Emperor and with a prosperous solo career, is preparing a new album for the month of May.

It will be called "Àmr" and it will be his seventh solo album. It will be released through Candelight Records on May 7. Fredrik Åkesson from Opeth will participate as guest (in the song "Arcana Imperii"), of which Ihsahn speaks thus:

We met for the first time in person in Oslo, when I made my solo debut as an opening act for Opeth and then we spent some time together at different festivals when we agreed that we played on the same day. The last time was in Japan, when we played there with Emperor and Opeth. We were talking about guitars and I said "I'm not going to kiss you or anything like that, but you're one of my favorite guitarists, so I hope I can call you one day to put on a guitar solo" and said "When want! " He did a fabulous job.
Ihsahn comments on the album:

Knowing that the shape would be similar to the previous disc, and since I compose material in a certain way, I wanted to change the focus this time. Therefore, instead of continuing with my changes between string and orchestration, I focused on the use of analog synthesizers and more direct sounds.
This goes straight to the beginnings of Emperor, when they included strings and horns inspired by old soundtracks of John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith, but at the same time we loved those phantasmagoric synthesizers of, for example, soundtracks like "Halloween" by John Carpenter .

I've also been listening to Rhythm And Blues and contemporary Hip Hop anchored in that deep 808 equipment sound. It's somehow darker than a lot of Metal and Black Metal. There is a depth and energy there that I find captivating, so I also wanted to explore the arrangements of those styles.

On each album I try to make the album darker than ever. I never try to do something more melodic or accessible. Still, growing up with the Metal of the 80s, along with all the broad musical influences, I often end up having very contradictory elements. It's my seventh studio album, so I finally focus on the methods and perspectives that keep me excited and super connected to what I'm working on. If I'm not passionate about what I do, I can not expect others to be passionate about it!
