SongSpeak #1: Mother and Son - a Special Bond.

In this first edition of SongSpeak - I'm featuring a rather simple but very special human emotion, the feelings of a child towards his mother who is no more, the child plays a video cassette and recollects his memories as an infant with his mom in all her vibrancy dancing with affection towards him.

Pappayude Swantham Appoos - is a 1992 Malayalam film written and directed by Fazil, starring Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Badusha, Seena Dadi, Shobana in the lead roles.

The music was composed by Ilayaraja.

The movie explores the relationship between a father who is depressed after the death of his wife and his neglected son.

Badusha won the 1992 Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist for his performance.The film was a success and top grosser of the year 1992.

Balachandran (Mammootty) had resorted to his work after being unable to cope up with the death of his wife, Bhama (Shobhana). During the process, he unintentionally neglects his only son, Appu (Badusha).

In the song we see Appu (Badusha) remembering his mother.

This song is mesmerizing and recounts the feelings of a child who is missing his mom.

Directed by Fazil who has brought out the finer nuances of the subject in the song in a simple manner.

As Shobana is a professional Bharatanatyam dancer and an award-winning actress, she elegantly portrays the role with ease in the movie.

The scenes bring to memory the nostalgic memory of one's own mom, her care, her giving bath to us as a child, and how we played around with the water etc.,

Its 'nostalgic' for some and 'natsukashii' for others; meaning, if you've felt a longing with happiness for something in your past then it's 'nostalgic' for others who look back with sadness (in Japanese)its called 'natsukashii' some sort of a deeper sad feeling and there's no direct English translation for that word.

The energy and youth of our mom we remember when we were tiny tots still linger in our hearts, but at later stages of our life, we too miss all that good old days.

Moms are special, always. Young or old mom is gold.
