Elon Musk is a visionary entrepreneur and the real-life Iron man. He has achieved tremendously great achievements over the past years such as PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX and now the Eloncity/SolarCity.
SolarCity free power energy for the householders for the rest of their lives and the Elon’s Vision is not just to power his ElonCity, but he has a vision plan to power the whole world. Period.

Vision into action

Eloncity has more than 300,000 homes with commercial solar roofs. Often there is no down payment that a house buyer will go through. Instead, they will have to agree to a specific lease or a power purchase agreement. Some existing customers and a lot of new customers are quite interested in car charging, battery storage, efficient hot water heating, and several other home energy management procedures.

The technology for power

Tesla recently launched its new power system which is called Powerwall 2, the advanced 7 kW, 14 kWh battery system which is to be priced at $5,500 with the installed solar inverter and the electric vehicle charger. The Tesla technology will boost the installation of the solar plus storage, zero-net-energy homes and all-electric homes.

The solution to the problem

Majority of homes usually use natural gas for heating water and cooking purposes. That natural gas is called methane, and the greenhouse gas produces the 25 times more heat of CO2. All the way from fracking, to the gas storage, to the pipeline delivery lines, there are leaks somehow, and these leaks are significantly damaging our present and coming future. Shipping methane to the state of Hawaii will be quite expensive, so the whole-electric homes are the ultimate norm in this condition. In the specific islands, Eloncity/SolarCity is getting installed by solar roofs that are combined with the advanced Tesla battery storage, Nest thermostats to manage efficiency and electric smart water heaters.

The ultimate solar energy program

The Solar plus storage will be working effectively and efficiently in zero-net-energy (ZNE) homes, communities and buildings. The process will start in 2020, and they will ZNE all the new single-family homes in the state of California. In early 2030, the commercial buildings probably new ones, including the apartments, in California, all must be ZNE by then. For the record, California will get up to 50% of its whole energy from the electric renewables by the year 2030. ZNE is probably the significant opportunity for all the combined Tesla.

Tesla has partnered up with Panasonic, both are optimistic to complete the massive, literally the biggest solar factory in Buffalo, New York, and that factory will make over one GW of solar power annually, not just 1 GW, the ambitions are high up to 10 GW to make this factory the world’s biggest mega solar manufacturing site.

Tesla has recently acquired quite an interest with its advanced roofing material, i.e. those shiny tiles that will integrate solar. Instead of the old concept of the solar mounted on a roof, the roof of the house itself will be solar. A solar roof is quite a compelling vision. The Initial success of the project probably is in the luxury homes because this project lies where people with high ambitions for architectural awards and where PV efficiency and cost are secondary options to think on. Five million new roofs are to be installed in a year; the total 2% is 100,000 solar roofs per year.

Energy and Mobility: the future

In future, our buildings, cars and homes will be entirely electrified and smartly powered with the renewable energy. If you buy an electric vehicle, it will be 90 per cent energy efficient, if we compare it to gasoline cars that make 15% efficiency rate. Advanced electric homes will have zero net energy because they will incorporate solar power, an advanced battery, smart electric water heating, and intelligence all over the environment.

Elon Musk’s Eloncity/SolarCity, Tesla are creating the advanced world with exciting future. Elon is changing the shape of the world in the future. No doubt he may hit some cash crunch in completing his ambitions, and other competitors are coming his way. And let's see if Tesla remains our sole supplier, or others will bring better opportunities.
