TWO WORLDS ON A WINDOW SILL / watercolour still life painting by Neha Bisht

in #elegance6 years ago (edited)

As I said in my earlier post, I find windows & window sills a very fascinating space in a house.
A place full of tales and character.
A place for introspection, reflection and observation.

A lot of my childhood was spent in sitting on window sills and sketching, reading and thinking.

My painting "Two Worlds On A Window Sill" expresses the unique characteristic of a window sill as being a meeting place of two worlds, - a world inside and a world outside !
Just like the eyes - the meeting place of the world in side and the world outside.

"I was a real daydreamer at school, gazing out of the window and losing myself in imaginary worlds". - Talulah Riley.

Of course, as the artist, I express a personal thought through my painting.
But as a viewer it is for you to feel the emotion and energy of both the worlds on either side of the window in my painting . :)

My painting -

TWO WORLDS ON A WINDOW SILL

Watercolour on Paper/ Size A3
Style - Realism

"I love my life on window sills.
It makes me think and dream.
I remember the first bloom of spring in my garden and the bird that always came by.
I remember the toy seller in the cycle in my Grandma's town who always passed by.
I remember the distant lights from my hostel window that always took me home.
I remember the views and sounds that called me to the window and made my mind roam.
I remember the excitement that always bubbled on the window sills of my childhood.
Today my window sills are quiet as I see the world passing by.
Ah! The window sill has been my silent companion for long ...

I could barely stand to be indoors, so stared out the window with the wanderlust in my heart. You captured the moment beautifully. 🐓🐓

You wrote my thoughts out so beautifully, @mother2chicks.
You are a highly intuitive person. I am so honoured by your appreciation :)
Thank you !

We are attached to what gave us the memories. That is a beautiful picture of a window and landscape that could exist somewhere. Sometimes what is inside the windows may not be pleasant but what we see outside will give us something to appreciate or vice versa.

Very truly spoken, @leeart. Memories create attachment. And the heart is always seeking freedom and hope!

Thank you for your beautiful and poignant insight and appreciation :)

“As I said in my earlier post, I find windows & window sills a very fascinating space in a house.

"a collection of different window sills, from different places, that tell different stories". - this would be a great photoart series.
I have been contemplating on a window sill series of medium size paintings. Let's see :)

thank you for your appreciation, @dandesign86 :)

Another great piece of art @nehab. Totally loving it. :)
Drinking coffee while sitting on the window sill and looking outside is my favorite badass moment of the day. Haha! It's like I am in a movie. And thanks to today's weather, it was delightful.

It is my favourite badasss moment too ! And yes, the weather today is merciful in Delhi.
Yearning for raindrops on the window and coffee !
Thank you, @hungryhustle for the appreciation and support. Your spontaneous comment made my day ! :)

I'd love to be in that painting.

thank you, @bloghound :) ....
What more can an artist artist !
The painting is justified when the viewer wants to be in the painting :)

You have created really beautiful and when I read your post filled with nostalgic memories piece. I love your window, it is a nice solid wood in old style. Your distribution of lights and shadows have created 3D effect. Beautiful done and it is a truth there is always a nice reminder of past on window sill, either photograph or little toy, by the way we have little toy on window sill, that my husband played when he was a child. That made me laugh seeing your painting :)

Thank you for such beautiful words, @stef1 . They really honour my work. I wanted to get the light and darkness right to create the "into the picture" effect.
How sweet to have your husband's childhood sitting on the window sill.
This teddy is my son's childhood ! :D

thank you, @stef1
