Write a portrait with butter. Long-dry oil paints can be applied slowly on each other, gradually reaching the required depth of tone.

Oil paints are dry for a long time, so they are easy to apply on each other. This property of oil paints makes them particularly convenient material for a beginner artist. While the paint remains moist, you can change the smear, add a new layer of paint on top or wipe off excess paint dipped in turpentine fabric.

Working on this portrait, our artist with an additional layer of paint constantly changed the tone of the skin tone, so on the finished portrait you can find alternating colors, including shades of green, brown, red, pink, yellow and orange.

Before you start directly for the portrait itself, professionals recommend covering the canvas with a layer of colored primer to soften the sharp white color of the base.
On such a neutral background, it is more convenient to arrange contrasting light and dark tones.

The person in this portrait is written in a mixed technique of painting and drawing. Our artist started with a free linear scheme, after which he made a tonal tint. Then he returned to the drawing to clarify his features, and completed the work with thick strokes.

Before you start to paint with oil, mix a few colors on the palette. After this, you do not need to experiment every time with paints in order to get the desired color.
Carefully consider the face of your model to highlight areas of darkness on it.

I just love painting oil paintings. Although difficult, time is long, and the smell is not very, but it's worth it😍
You can not even imagine how cool they all look in real life (I'm talking about my work), the photo does not convey the relief, color, transitions, contrasts.
These gods are familiar to us from school, but I still have an interest in reading about them: Apollo, Hercules, Zeus, Neptune, Achilles, Chiron, Atlantis, Odysseus, Perseus, Hades, Athena, Poseidon, Aphrodite, Minotaur, Medusa Gorgon, Cerberus ... and many others, from films, cartoons.
I think this is not my last work of this kind. I will share the result "
