Got a new dash cam

As compact electronic products typically do, the 4-year old G1WH dash cam in my Fiesta suddenly stopped working. At first I thought it was just a faulty mini SD card, but replacing a working SD card didn't work so yeah....it was time to retire it.

Being old and all, I wasn't really up to date about dashcam tech so it took abit of browsing and asking around. The one I finally settled on is the 70mai Pro, a popular model that many has opined to be best bang for buck. I placed an order on Lazada and it arrived at my doorstep the next day.

Installation and setup was a breeze. The most difficult part, as before, was to route and hide the power cable to my 12V splitter. I also updated the firmware using 70mai's app which could be downloaded from Google Play Store.

I don't have any sample videos to show at the moment, but so far I am very happy with the quality for the price I paid (in Malaysia, it should be around RM170-200 depending on the seller). There is also an optional GPS module that is sold separately that can unlock a few more features, including a suite of driving assist functions such as lane keep alert.
