EKG of the Week No. 1
EKGW is a instructional programme I run with some medical trainees. I present an EKG to which the trainee may respond with an interpretation. Those that do receive an individual response with corrections, if necessary. Regardless of whether or not the trainee responds directly, after a short period, all participants receive a email with a discussion of the tracing, clinical points &/or ancillary EKGs etc. etc .
EKGW No. 1 is an old tracing of only fair technical quality. It is quite decipherable though. The programme includes tracings that are part of my clinical experience . The index tracings are not taken from the internet. Some are provided of course by interested and helpful colleagues. Occasionally tracings taken from the public domain are used in the ''discussion'' email.
This EKG was taken from a large pile of paper EKGs read many years ago by a late, great clinician and teacher of mine. On seeing the tracing he instructed the technician to go the to medical ward and inform the ward team of the diagnosis.
