In case you weren't aware, that's me and I have somewhat reluctantly put my name forward for the forthcoming referee elections.

In an ideal world, there would be no need to manage the 'distribution' of SPORTS, but from the outset it was clear that not doing so would lead to the tribe failing in a matter of months.

I contacted the STS creator and advised that abuse, particularly in the form of comment 'farming' was rife, and @sportsmod was created to return rewards applied to these comments back to the pool. After a couple of weeks, it was decided that this approach was too centralized and the referee system as we currently know it was devised.

This has worked reasonably well, and would work even better if all the referees were active, but again the choices for referees were made by only a few - the new system changes that, and puts the decision back into the hands of the community.

@referee1 has downvoted 110 accounts, and issued 1251 downvotes in total. The vast majority of these downvotes have been placed on comments that have been self-voted, either directly or via an obvious alt account.

Many of these accounts have altered their approach for the good of the community, and I would like to thank those that have.

I would like to see a set of referee's that:

  • can speak the main languages that content is produced in
  • visit the private discord channels most days to check in on what the other referees are saying

If you think this job is fun, you are wrong, if you think this job doesn't take up time, you are wrong, if you think being called a racist, a bigot, or cyber-bully, is something I enjoy, wrong again.

If however, the elected referees work as a team, there is hope for easily the most popular niche tribe to succeed.

Cheers

Asher

Well said! Good luck to you in the election. Having seen abuse on various other platforms I appreciate what you are doing here.

You mean a cohesive team that checks in a lot? not little splinter groups, what a mind blowing concept! ;) good luck, doubt you'll need it though

Yeah, groups of at least 5 I guess :)

Rotating the refs should hopefully mean more activity?

I can already guess who is already 'in' like Nostradamus! lol
See who else comes forward or has the eggs or balls too, or people running , transparency, if there are cliques which there are because it's natural in human nature then people should know who is who
I'd put my support behind someone like you even if I don't agree with everything that's life. My opinion is that the 540,000 sports paid to each ref (there are 9) should be burned to null and it should be a very volunteer position as those doing it should garner support from the community or be ousted based on that.
The refs absolutely should be rapidly rotated, it hopefully is going to be a diff scenario and not one where any one group on here feels ganged up on even if it's b.s. or not.
See who is willing to do this for free, Many might find it interesting to see who is willing to burn it to null, I would if I was running but I'm not.
If I change my mind though I'll just buy a spot since it's stake based. DPOS is a bad move imho. If it is that though then it's pretty easy to see most of who is in, just look at females and males in rich list spots ffs, op/ed only
Long reply but think you actually coming out as your number speaks more of you then what's been going on. :) ;)

I did it for free for a while, but it is pretty hard going when the hour or two spent scripting, searching, and down-voting could be spent producing 2/3 average posts for 100k+

540,000 is a lot, particularly to refs who do very little. Make it performance related (DV count?) and that could lead to flag abuse.

The system can likely be changed at will, so let's see what happens and then voice concerns with something to back them up with.

A logical one to be elected I think - go and save the network.

Thank you. Not sure it will be save and could be more like prolong the life :)

haha, true - who knows - maybe tomorrow i can access the voting site again.

for what it even matters, I think he is good for the platform and the fact he came out first speaks volumes of him,
bigtime, not that I agree or we agree with everything he has said or done and vice versa but overall think he's a decent dude. :)

agreed - i can not vote - seems site down or any other issue I am not aware of?

go to the discord chan and tag the Admins

works now but my bad - discovered I can only vote ONE - pain as I wanted to vote 3

yeah this will be............................ interesting :) glass is half full my friend right?
:) sunshine and lollipops

very nice post boss @abh12345.sports. There is a need of manual creator to stop abusing the voting.

but self voting is not wrong, as many whales says in their blog. I have read many articles on this topic in steemit itself. Though still am not sure, whether is legal or not.

Refree should also try to find the plagiarism content and punish them with downvote. In most of the cases even we can understand that the user is creating the scam in the platform.

Also there are many article with is commented by @steem.cleaner. which shows the user is not authenticated.

Self voting is allowed, period. Selling and buying as you see fit is allowed, staking or unstaking or not staking is allowed, how others deal with it is on them but it is allowed and most are not going to splice atoms over it. Now if someone is taking out 150k or has 15 accounts doing it on something saying two words most humans would agree that's farked!
ABH uses his own stake on some blinding examples so that's commendable. He does research and "came out" so I mean of the refs who are obviously known, I think he has rather bigger cajones. It would be nice to see some with other skill sets and languages perhaps assuage some of the FUD and such without over or under moderating. My one Pesito

Thank you for the details information.

my pleasure, feels a bit chaotic at times so figured would clear up any confusion that any users have on any 'level'. Have a great day, glad to help :)

You were the most vocal Sportstalk user and I love the way you put your words into action. You've done a lot of great things in STS, Asher. If I could vote a thousand times for a referee, it will all boil to you. Cheers buddy.
