Home to one of the oldest and most influential civilizations on the planet, Egypt is a treasure trove of history and culture. From the Nile Delta, the capital of Cairo, the country is a place of historical ancient philosophy, including the pyramids in the church and the temple of Abu Simbel. In addition, Egypt’s Red Sea coast offers plenty of opportunities for glittering, swimming and scuba diving on most of the world’s oldest coral reefs.

Location:
Egypt occupies the northeast corner of the African continent. It is bounded on the east by the Mediterranean Sea and on the east by the Red Sea. It shares land borders with the Gaza Strip, Israel, Libya and Sudan, and includes the Sinai Peninsula. The gap between Africa and Asia is the next bridge.

Geography:
The total area of Egypt is 386,600 square miles / 1 million square kilometers. By comparison, this is about twice the size of Spain and three times the size of New Mexico.

Population:
As of July 2016, according to estimates published by the CIA World Factbook, Egypt has a population of only 94.6 million people. The average life expectancy is 72.7 years.

When to go:
According to the weather, the best time to travel to Egypt is from October to April, when the temperature is their most pleasant. However, June and September are good times for trips and limited range travel on accommodation - but be prepared for high heat and humidity. If you are traveling in the Red Sea, coastal winds will make the heat tolerable in summer (July to August).

Key Attractions:
Pyramid of Giza

Located in Cairo, the Pyramids of Giz are certainly the most famous of ancient Egyptian philosophy . The site contains the iPhone Spinx and three separate pyramid complexes, each of which is a pharaoh's graveyard.

The three largest, the Great Pyramid, is the oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world. It is still the only one that lasts.

Luxor

Often known as the largest open-air museum in the world, the city of Luxor is built on the site of the ancient capital of Thebes. It is home to two of Egypt's most impressive temples - Karnak and Luxor. Opposite the Nile is the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, where ancient palaces are buried. The most famous, the cemetery includes the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Cairo

Funny, colorful Cairo is the capital of Egypt and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is full of cultural landlocked from the Hansi Church (one of the oldest places of Christian worship in Egypt) to the Al-Azhar Mosque (the second largest continuously running university in the world).

The Egyptian Museum contains more than 120,000 items, including treasures from Munmi, Sopofji and Tutankhamun.

Red Sea coast

Egypt's Red Sea coast is famous as the best scuba diving destination in the world . With clear, warm water and plenty of healthy coral reefs, this is a great place to learn to dive. Even the season divers will be excited with the list of World War II wrecks and bucket marine species in the region (think sharks, dolphins and manna rays). Top resorts include Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and Marsam Alam.
