Causes Of Sexual Immorality Among Youths: causes And Remedies.

TEACH a child the right way to follow according to the
scripture, and when he grows, he will not depart from
it. What then can we say of this generation of youths,
that they did not listen to their parents or that their
parents did not fulfill their obligations according to the
scripture? Sexual immoralities have become the order
of the day. Girls no longer cherish chaste and dignity of
womanhood is long gone. Men have lost control over
their emotions. It is obvious that the youths today do
not see pre-marital sex as an immoral act.
Advanced learner’s dictionary defined sexual immorality
as sexual acts not following accepted standard of
sexual behaviour. From the above definition, one can
infer that there are accepted standard of sexual
behaviour which I believe should be with in the
confines of marriages. Marriage as a legal union
between man and woman to become husband and wife
confers on couples the right to have sexual
relationships, thus making this relationship an immoral
act for unmarried couples. Sexual immorality can be
discussed under two broad headings, namely pre-
marital and extra-marital sexual activities. Pre-marital
sex is defined as sexual intercourse between unmarried
people and the scripture calls it fornication, while on the
other hand, extra-marital sex is the sexual activities
between men and women other than their married
partners. This is called adultery according to the
scripture. Predominant among the youths, is pre-marital
sexual activities. It is an evil that is ravaging our
society. This is immoral and should be condemned by
all and sundry. There is indeed an urgent need to find a
panacea to this menace of sexual immoralities among
the youths but before then it is equally necessary that
we look at the factors promoting this act.

CAUSES OF SEXUAL IMMORALITY.

Sexual promiscuity is a world-wide phenomenon and one of the crucial
steps towards mitigating this societal ill is tounderstand the reasons behind it. Sexual immorality among the youths that is, the urge to have sex is more on the youths as compared to other ages. Most at times, the urge for sex becomes uncontrollable predominantly among the males. When there is self-
indiscipline, this can lead to rape. According to Cliff
Abony in his book. “The creed of marriage”, research
has shown that men women have equal sex hormones,
however, men have ten to twenty times more
testosterone (the hormone that has a big influence on
how much sex men and women want and whether or
not you can successfully act on those desire. This could
sometimes double in the early part of the morning and
that explains why men have sharp erection in the
mornings. This desire makes the youths feel like having
sex all day. It takes only self-discipline and fear of God
to control the natural urge. Again, pre-mature sex
exposure is another reason for this menace. The books
our youths read, the films they watch, pornographic
films and pictures they view both on the TV and
internet as well as peer group pressure lead them to
experiment sex early in their life. Our moral value has
been depreciated so badly due to the erosion of our
cultural values in our society, to the extent that parents
do not care what their children and wards read or view.
What is the essence of having a child when you cannot
shield the child from the societal evils in his/her
development stages in life? On the part of the authority,
censorship has declined to a level where anything can
be air on the Tv, internet or bought from the market at
the detriment of our youths and their minds. Besides,
the living condition in the developing nations due to
poverty does not help matters. A situation where a
couple live in a room with army of grown-up children
and the couple have sexual intercourse in the view of
their children. It sounds unbelievable but this is the true
nature of our society. How do the youths manage their
urge with this terrible situation?
In addition, materialism is another factor that promotes
sexual immorality. This is sadly predominant among
the ladies. Young girls in a bid to buy costly attires and
conform to modern appearance expected of ladies
become prostitutes early in life.

REMEDIES TO SEXUAL IMMORALITIES AMONG YOUTHS

What then do we do to save this generation? All hope
is not lost but there is a lot of work to be done if sexual
promiscuity among the youth could be curbed, in the
first place, parents should give their children adequate
sex education. Should they fail in their duty, young
people will be misinformed by their peers who believe
that virginity is no longer the dignity of a young
woman.
Girls should avoid keeping private company with boys
to keep temptation at bay. They should strive for
chaste and keep their virginity. This is the dignity of
womanhood.
Finally, young people should give their lives to JESUS
CHRIST. They should endeavour to attend their religious
programmes and hear the word of God regularly.
